i am really starting to believe they are doing to protect McCain from having to go to the debate.

4. I hope it's just Obama.
It'd be great - an hour of open mike time and a whole lotta egg on McCain's face.

5. I think he's being an ass so he can get The Big Dipper out of her debate.
He wants to push the whole schedule back so there won't be enough time for all 4 debates. He desperately wants to keep her from having to debate Biden.

7. Yeah, I do think they're trying to keep the debate from happening....but....
Obama should go. They should have a cardboard cutout present where McCain would have stood. The moderator should ask Obama questions, let him respond, and then have someone read quotes from McCain's previous remarks on the same issues. And while asking the cardboard cutout the questions, the camera should linger lovingly on the blank stare on the cutout's face.

12. I prefer having Obama speek, then show an empty chair for the allotted time.
With a caption saying that "John McCain, Republican Candidate refused to attend today's debate"

I think Obama should take as many opportunities as he can to ask McCain questions, and of course the empty desk not replying.

One of the questions Obama should ask McCain is why he did so little work on banking and finance issues in his many years in the senate (zip) and only now has shown an interest in the topic. Other questions should be about Keating 5

9. McCain thought he would show up with the free market guys.
That's the House GOP reps. They would try to bargain for their points, and make Democrats pass the bad old bailout bill for Bush. Then they would blame us for the bailout, and McCain would try to play off that to attack Obama.

Democrats should let the markets fall like a rock Friday and Monday. We should not get in any hurry now. The GOP has bought this, by jumping in to stop a deal. Let them be heard. Let them present their witnesses, and let the markets drop.

I used to play sick when I was a kid to get out of tests (especially math). Maybe McAnus has the same idea?

14. He boxed his lame ass into a corner and now is just flailing about.
Barack said the debate is on, Old Miss says it's on, and if McJACKASS doesn't show up Barack said he's doing a townhall. Then Barack can go on about McJERK being too asceered to debate him after all in a rousing episode of political theater. Could be fabulous.
