Market predictions?
On the news that the republicans are now stalling the bill that the ...republican president put forth and the democratic congress has gotten behind  what are your predictions for the market?

I think overall tomorrow we will close down between 400-500

:nuke:

3. Well, the futures already have it down 130.
So it'll tank 500 easy.

Oops, scratch that it's down 143 now.

So I'll say 1000.

7. No more than 300 down
Its been propped up since the housing crisis began, and the government will put out some reassurances a bill will be worked out eventually by late morning if it looks to go down too much.

16. Yeah, somewhere in the mid 100s, but a deal can be announced during the day.
So I wouldn't want to predict a close... could be up or way down depending on events.

There will be a big drop Friday morning, then in early afternoon, as it becomes obvious we will go into the weekend with no deal, there will be a huge sell off.

to suspend trading. Maybe a few bank holidays are in order...

25. hammered hard
It ended up today when it was looking like the bailout was going to happen. Bailout was scuttled after market close, so I think there will be an early morning reaction to that. With Wamu on top of that, it's going to be a bloodbath. -500 is probably about right.

35. Especially with some hard-core Republicans saying they'd rather see a Depression ...
... than a bailout, the market could be deeply ugly on Friday.
