3. One thing is certain, we will now find out what Kerry is made of.
This is an important transition point in the campaign. The gauntlet has been thrown down.

20. This is Kerry's moment of truth.
This creature Miller not only challenged his and OUR patriotism, but spewed a kind of hatred that would make George Wallace cringe.

29. If Kerry doesn't come out fighting after this, he should just give up!
The Republicans have called him a coward and a loser and many Americans will believe it if he doesn't prove that he's willing to kick their asses.

The American people want someone who will stand up for them and Kerry is going to have to start standing up for himself during this campaign to start with.

Time for Kerry to crush Bush!

The Dems Fight Fire by Firing Back
Party bigwigs were out in force in the Big Apple to offset GOP attacks on John Kerry. "Consumer fraud" at Cheney's Halliburton?

Democrats are catching plenty of flak at the GOP Convention in New York this week, but they aren't taking the broadsides lying down. Prominent Democrats like New York Representative Charles Rangel and New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg have been firing off daily countersalvos. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has deluged the air waves with new ads taking Bush to task for saying the war on terror may be unwinnable. And Vice-Presidential candidate John Edwards has kept up a rigorous campaign schedule -- a break with the tradition of taking a down week while the opposition conducts its convention.

In the hours before Vice-President Dick Cheney took the stage on Sept. 1 to lambaste John Kerry, the Dems fired first. The theme of the day was Halliburton (HAL ), where Cheney was once CEO. Accused of trading on its connections to the Bush Administration for contracts in Iraq and overcharging the U.S. government, the company has become synonymous in the Democratic lexicon with corporate graft.

AT THE GARDEN, AGAIN. Playing off President George Bush's declaration last year that the war in Iraq was a "Mission Accomplished," Senator Lautenberg said at a New York press conference that "for Halliburton, it has been a mission accomplished alright." He pointed out that it has seen its stock price increase about threefold since 2002. New York Attorney General Elliot Spitzer, who has vigorously prosecuted Wall Street firms for cheating shareholders, charged that Halliburton's actions amounted

"Tonight we're going to hear from a guy who obtained five deferments ," Retired General Tony McPeak, former U.S. Air Force chief of staff said, referring to Cheney. Attorney General John Ashcroft obtained seven deferments, McPeak added. "That's about a dozen between the two of them," McPeak said. "Where are the 12 guys who went to Vietnam in their place? Maybe some of them didn't come back." Red meat, anyone?

We are always suppose to be the nice guys.
Republicans will call us "screamers, wild, mean and flip flops" if we give them some of their own medicine.

I was looking at CSPAN tonight and I saw...
Mondale - Nice guy, played fair, lost

Dukakis - nice guy, played fair, lost

Clinton was a different breed. He and Hillary were/are a knock um out with a one - two punch team. I recently saw "The Hunting of The President." It made me have unending respect for the Clintons. How they fought back against these same bastards is beyond awesome.

When Hillary said,"IT IS THE VAST RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY," she told the truth and it stuck with the American people. She nailed them with the truth.

Democrats are now, as always, telling the truth.

Now is the time to NAIL them like the Clinton's have always done.

The clock is ticking, this is Sept.2 EST, exactly two months.

If not now,when?

The press will let it go.

Maybe not all of them ( I suspect we'll hear from Matthews), but Kerry has to respond in a clear way to the charges made while denouncing the sheer hatred and ugliness of that shameful speech.

19. Nope...
The Kerry Camp will continue to stand at the plate and hope to get a couple more balls thrown his way and get into office on a Walk.. He's not going to swing at anything..

I've given up on actually expecting Kerry to fight for us.. He hasn't and he won't.. Hell it took him a month to even fight for himself after the Swift Boat Ad's came out..

Our only hope now is to hope that the Republicans Self Destruct..

I'm completely losing faith..

32. I tend to think it's bad advisers and strategists.
The campaign Kerry has run isn't really a reflection of the man. The man Kerry is a fighter, cares about Americans, values truth, integrity, and freedom. The campaign, however, isn't doing a good job of reflecting these core characteristics of who Kerry is. They have allowed the Republicans to define Kerry instead of letting Kerry define himself.

Kerry took a big step in the right direction with his speech at the Dem convention. But it's been one step forward, two steps back with this campaign and I think that's what many of us find so frustrating. We don't want Kerry to take steps backward or to just hold his ground. We want to see him move forward and let the Republicans know their smears will NOT go unopposed and will NOT be tolerated. Teresa Heinz-Kerry showed her spine when she told that reporter to "shove it." Sure, there was some initial gasps of disbelief, but I bet that reporter won't try those same underhanded attacks against her again. She stood up for herself. I think Kerry wants to do the same, but he is being advised against appearing too "angry" or to "emotional."

Caution is warranted at certain times, but this is not one of them. This is a time of urgency and a time for the gloves to come off. We don't have to smear or slime, we just have to bitchslap these sons of Bs with the TRUTH and we have to do it FORCEFULLY and CONVINCINGLY. This is something Carville knows how to do. This is also something Begala knows how to do. The Kerry camp needs these individuals in their corner. The Kerry camp also needs to take a risk and let John Kerry loose. There were times when Clinton, in the face of attack, stepped out in front and took it upon himself to shut the right-wingers down. He did it with humor, he did it with class, he did it with grace and dignity, but most of all he did it with FORCE. Kerry needs to do the same -- polls, pundits, and advisors be damned.
