Democrats should Adjourn Congress today.
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 05:27 AM by IWantAnyDem
IF the REpublicans continue stonewalling the bailout this morning, the only option left is to declare the bailout dead and adjourn.

Let it be on their heads.

And if McCain wants to stick around the halls of an empty Congress, well, I'm sure Barack Obama will do just fine talking to Jim Lehrer and the audience for 90 minutes during prime time.

1. Yeah, but, we really have to do something to prevent a economic collapse.
Bailing out the fat cats is not the answer, they caused this and doing so will only delay the coming collapse. Japan tried this and it did not work, it made the problem worse.

Nationalize the collapsed banks Bring back the Regulations they have been getting rid of since Regan, that were put in place to stop this in the first place. Renegotiate the sub-prime loans, help the little guy for a change.

And start striping the wealth of the perpetrators and putting the greedy criminals in prison.

2. HELL, NO. People are not getting what this means to "Main Street"
we are days away from not being able to get cash from ATM machines. My friend who works at a Wall Street bank put it in those terms for me 2 days agao. 2 of her clients, one a hospital, one a sports equip. manufacterer who employs 25,000 Americans, have ZERO liquidity... they cannot continue to operate. The ripple effect is days away from touching all of us. I heard the same thing on CNBC THIS MORNING... an analyst gave the ATM example. Think it can't happen?

This is NO TIME for sending messages, theatris... we are fucked in any case... I am furious, but some kind of deal has to be worked out NOW. Washington Mutal collapsed last night, more will fail today.

3. That's political suicide for the Dems. Come on...

What they COULD do is call Mccain's bluff and call a vote in the senate on the basic principles/deal arranged yesterday.
