RW pundit Kathleen Parker: Palin should bow out, for the good of the country
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 05:26 AM by krkaufman
Right Wing pundit Kathleen Parker calls for Palin to step-down from Republican ticket, for the good of the country.

    (warning: from National Review Online...)

    Palin Problem
    She’s out of her league.

    Kathleen Parker
    September 26, 2008 12:00 AM

    ...

As we’ve seen and heard more from John McCain’s running mate, it is increasingly clear that Palin is a problem. Quick study or not, she doesn’t know enough about economics and foreign policy to make Americans comfortable with a President Palin should conditions warrant her promotion.

Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.

No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I’ve been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I’ve also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.

Palin filibusters. She repeats words, filling space with deadwood. Cut the verbiage and there’s not much content there. ... If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself.

    ...

1. I was looking for the Must Read button, but will a K&R do?
"If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself." BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

:wow:

My local rag prints her. She must have some REAL dirt on someone...there is no other explanation.

4. Ouch. And from a National Review Online columnist no less.
They're a steaming pile of steaming piles. If palin's too much for one of them (and the author is certainly not alone, I suspect), then it's evidently worse than we thought.

5. I think George Will's recent columns have given them sufficient cover to break with McCain ...
... and maybe they're looking to trash him entirely, and begin a full overhaul of their image.

8. You know, the more extended talk about the general subject of the souring of the
republi-CON brand, the better.

The more that becomes conventional wisdom, the more it's talked about openly, the more it's brought up in conversation - whether it's in the office or it's something you hear from some media pundit - the better. The more that whole overriding concept is allowed to seep into the national consciousness, the better. The souring of the republi-CON brand. VERY important to help plant that concept like a precious seed, and grow it into a victory in November. Anything that moves is toxic if it's got an "R" attached to its name. And the more we encourage and spread that opinion, the more likely it is to become broadly accepted by the public. 'Cause we want to make sure that a lot of "D" people move in this fall. From the top down, and from the bottom up.

32. Can't argue with that.
I really wish the House Republican plan for Financial (R)mageddon would be more widely discussed. It sounds like they're going down the same old path of tax cuts for corporations, and even less regulation as a solution for the crisis.

34. Chuckle! No question, Palin's a gift that keeps on giving ...
... so I do NOT want her to step down; but having RW "opinion makers" deride her qualifications will be helpful in deflating any residual enthusiasm for the McCain ticket. Frum, Will, Parker, ... who's next?

20. If you ever wonder who Bush's 19% are just go to Free Republic
and you'll find them all right there.

I'd love to hear Rush's spin on this article but I really don't need to lose the brain cells in the process.

Though Rush wouldn't have a problem with deriding Parker this week, and praising her as a paragon of virtue and integrity the next.

If one of us had written that line, we'd be given a DUzy for it.

Do you think Skinner will offer Parker an honorary DUzy award?

I believe Biden is, too, a piece of fluff added to the ticket in a cynical attempt to get the women's vote apparently by just showing up.

The men didn't join in, but all the women (ranging in age from 61 to 23) were enjoying the Palin bashing.

Keep doing more incoherent interviews.

I would love to see a 100% EV majority , all 50 states for OBAMA the night of Nov 4th.

23. Even if Palin did as suggested, it would be far too late
If Palin had dropped out within a week after the convention, there would still have been time for them to pick a replacement, regroup, and go back on the offensive.

Now it's way too late. Any switcheroo between now and Election Day would destroy what little chance they have left.

25. I don't know what's more amusing...
...watching the debacle as perpetrated by the principals in this campaign, namely McCain and Palin...
...or watching the spin-cyclists and talking coiffures realizing that the pond has been fished clean and now have resorted to eating the very people who had the biggest hand in keeping them "relevant"...

There isn't enough  on earth for this. I may have to resort to plan B: Junior Mints.

She's providing me with so much amusement - I'd hate to see her go. I mean, of course if McLame WON, I wouldn't want her on the ticket, but I'm thinking everyday with Sarah "is sweeter than the day before", and makes even stealing the election a very difficult thing to do.....

33. nice try, Kathleen, but WRONG
Palin should stay in for the good of her country.

If the rw fundies aren't the only ones left in love with her, they will be soon. And if NE posts pix of her in her lover's arms, even they'll drop her like a rock and stay home.

In the meantime, the more independents and moderate repubs hear from her, the faster they'll run to Obama.

That, ultimately, will be best for the country!
