Explaining McCain's Recent Behavior
It came to me this morning: He's confused the distinction between "independent" and "insane." Or between "maverick" and "lunatic."

Seriously. Picking Palin was the same thing: I'm gonna show everyone what a maverick I am by doing something NOBODY WOULD HAVE EXPECTED! Yeah...there's a lot of things nobody expects a presidential candidate to do, Senator, but NOT ALL OF THEM ARE GOOD IDEAS.

Oy,

The Plaid Adder

4. In poker terms, he's on tilt.
He's completely lost his cool, threw his strategy out the window, and is trying the most aggressive, most desperate moves possible to keep him in the game. All Obama has to do is keep his cool (and he's very good at that - a dangerous poker player), continue to subtlely get under McCain's skin and continue to be the only adult in the room.

6. Agreed. Consider the polls and the Rick Davis scandal (which isnt over yet, watch)
I think he lost his marbles on wednesday, esp when he learned his campaign manager had lobbyist ties with fannie mack until last month. Imagine how A N G R Y that must have made him.

He then learns that there's a mutiny among the GOPers over Paulson's plan and decides he has to take some type of leadership position. They demand nothing less from him. However, he's so scared to actually take a position that he resorts to knee-jerk grandstanding and feels he can force a confrontation by Thursday afternoon.

The proposal these GOP rebels come up with is so weak that Paulson himself mocks it publicly.

Mccain gets left screwed on his gambit.

Meanwhile, his VP is making a fool out of him and everything is falling apart. For me, the biggest question (outside what happens tonight at the debate) is what is going to happen with the Rick Davis story.

Mccain's dropped 3 co-chairs already and he's going to have to explain this issue and why he didn't know.
