The real reason McCrap shafted Letterman? (Palin on CBS)
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 12:54 PM by npincus
Alright, this makes perfect sense. McCain dumps his Letterman appearance at the last minute, surely knowing that pissing off the comedian would have some unpleasant results... because he had to quash a far more damaging matter- the taped Couric interview w/Palin. Why else rush over to CBS, the same network that Palin was interviewed on, instead of keeping his Letterman appearance. Sounds like some hysteria behind the scenes at his camapign following the Couric interview.

Michael Crowley blogs below:

Palin Panic in McCainLand?

A savvy reader's theory:

They taped the CBS interview in the morning. They got the readout from the staffer about how terrible it was (that poor, poor person). They had the poll numbers and the Rick Davis story: *Bingo*, let's postpone the Friday debate and do it the day of the VP debate. And let's have the VP debate... the day after never?

This squares with another person who noted to me that McCain did just one interview yesterday--and it happened to be with the same network that had already spoken to Palin that day. Odd concentration of resources, no? And indeed, I watched the top of yesterday's CBS Evening News and it was all McCain, no Palin. It's possible the real story is percolating fear at McCain HQ that Palin's stock may be headed the way of Lehman Brothers.

1. I already thought of that in my
own little room. It's like mccain needed to babysit more than go on Letterman..he should have just told Dave..he's an understanding guy when you don't lie your fool head.

Take note of that tom tool brokaw.

2. I'd say it backfired...
Letterman will continue to roast his ass for the next 40 days, and the Palin interview is being aired everywehre ad nauseum, and is all over the Internets.

3. Fine. He should have been honest with Letterman and told him
that he had to do damage control at his same network, and I think Letterman would have been okay with that. It was the bold-faced lie that got to Letterman.

5. so his latest "distractions" was to bury the Palin interview?
hmmm, how long does he think he can hide her?

And what pisses me off is he doesn't even think about how having her as VP will affect America, he just wants to win. Anything to win, just get to the finish line and worry about the rest later

9. I truthfully think he's going on becoming senile.
He doesn't seem to fathom the consequences of his rash actions. There's a lot we need to know about his medical background before this goes any further. As far as barbie is concerned, they need to cut her loose and send her home.

8. Doesn't he know...
...that unlike himself, the media can handle more than one ridiculous McCain campaign story per day.

11. This whole campaign suspension stunt had to do with getting Palin out of next weeks debate.
It' didn't ... or so far hasn't worked. But I bet they come up with something else between now and then to try and get the VP debate canceled. My first reaction even before the Couric interview with Palin was this .... http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x7166433
