any expats know of a way to watch tonight's debate live?
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 03:48 PM by harmonicon
Any websites or anything? I'm in the UK, and they're showing the debate on tv here tomorrow, but I want to watch it live, because I know that if I don't, I'll have already seen loads of clips and comments about it before it's shown tomorrow night, and that will sort of spoil the experience.

The problem is that lots of TV websites in the US block access to foreign ISPs, so a website that works in the US won't necessarily work here. I could listen live on NPR, but I'd rather have the visual as well.

Any help?

2. hmmm
Thanks for the tip. However, it seems to only work with media player. I can do that in a pinch, but I'd rather watch via in OSX (I suppose I should have specified that in the OP).

3. BBC News, but don't forget that Democrats Abroad are holding some screenings, too.

Check the website - there's a screening tomorrow in Edinburgh in case you're near there, and London and Cambridge will have screenings later on in the week.

Of course it's not like watching it live, but I'm heavily considering going to the Edinburgh one, even though it's a couple of hours' drive away, because I'd like to meet some like-minded folks around here. My spousal unit says he might even go too, on the chance there might be other long-suffering Brit spouses with whom he can compare notes! ;)

(Details are in the "upcoming events" section in the right-hand column of the page. The individual area groups have their own events posted in their sections, too.)

On edit: at first I said cspan as well, but then I remembered watching the 2004 debates on the BBC. I just checked the listings; it'll be shown in BBC News 24 starting at 2am.

5. Pretty sure it's on live in the UK too.
Is it not on CNN live tonight at 2am? If you have Sky TV it'll be on CNN europe channel 506. Should also be on BBC News channel 503 and Sky News 501.

May even be on terrestrial BBC1.

6. ah, so it is!
Now just to see if I can actually pick up that channel (bbc news 24) at my house. No sky or cable here, unfortunately. I'm just rich enough to have an internet connection that I don't pay for and a tv that came with the house when I rented it.
