Democrats have been winning presidential debates since 1984.
Mondale made Reagan look old. Dukakis was sharper than H.W. Bush. Clinton was quick on his feet and H.W. looked at his watch. Dole's heart wasn't even in it. Gore was so bored with W. he sighed after running rhetorical circles around him. Kerry dismantled W. on his supposed strength, national security.
And, most of the time, we lost anyway.
Debates feel like a big deal, and they are, if something happens against type or if someone commits a gaffe. Even then, you have three swings of the bat, mistakes are often corrected, and people generally feel about you the way they did before they saw the first debate.
Other things matter more, like events.
That said, I'll be watching with bated breath like the redst of you.
