Never Forget: WE Are The Top 5%
Those of us who hang out at places like DU, Kos, FiredogLake, etc., are the top 5% of Americans WITH BRAINS. Let me alter that - we actually USE our brains, instead of just believing the last thing we heard. We don't march in lockstep, we are skeptical about media claims, and we do a whole bunch of our own research.

We are better armed - factually - than 95% of Americans. It's just my opinion, but I have heard some really dumb things in the last few years, memes that have been proven over and over again to be false, that are still being carried around as truth for a large number of Americans, such as Iraq was involved in 9/11. So going in to the debate, don't expect most Americans to wake up tomorrow knowing anything more than they know today...I suspect the less one uses critical thinking skills, the more atrophied they become.

Scary, Isn't It?

Sometimes, it seems like the intellectual depth of most Americans resembles the depth of a mud puddle!
