Breaking MSNBC: Zell Miller practically invites Chris Matthews to a Duel
At Appx. 10:25 PM (CST) Zell miller in an apparent meltdown proclaimed his wish that he lived in the time where he could settle differences with a duel after vigorous questioning by Chris Matthews of MSNBC.

I'm sure there will be links aplenty in a short time as Zell essentially had a complete meltdown on live TV.

29. Sometimes Tweety pisses me off, but overall it's outstanding to watch
For everything Tweety has done in the last 18 months, he has railed on the RW fucks hard sometimes. Miller just lost all his credibility. Fuck him. Tweety tore apart the Rebubs a couple of weeks ago, granted only because they used Kerry's Hardball appearance out of context.

Matthews can really suck the GOP sometimes, but occasionally he nails the Repukes badly. It depends on his mood, I guess.

he also had a mini head fit on the liberals pundits over at cnn because "You all are reading from the democratic talking points" I think we have seen tonight the public unraveling of Zell Miller and might i say it's not pretty to watch.

Here is my e-mail to "Tweety" who had his A game tonight.

Way to go Chris. You were right on, and Zell Miller is an out of control nut case. I hereby award you ten free passes on future screw-ups. You earned some viewer loyalty from me tonight.

9. Did someone say Pankration?
Ancient Olympic sport that closely resembles the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Any grapple, punch, kick, or stranglehold is legal. Bones can be dislocated or broken with impunity. The only rules are: (1) No eye-gouging. (2) No biting. Now that is a duel! None of this wimpy Aaron Burr pistols-at-ten-paces shit.

41. You haven't seen "Barry Lyndon"
The duel scene in that movie is unnerving, to say the least. Basically, the way the English dueled in the movie was to toss a coin. The one who called correctly could fire first, while the other "recieves his fire." Kubrick does a much better job of storytelling so please see it for yourself one day.

15. Question about Freedom of Press Sparks Angry Chris Matthews-Zell Miller Ex
http://www.mediainfo.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000623158

NEW YORK Probably the most incendiary moment in all of the television coverage of the Republican National Convention so far occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday night, during a Chris Matthews interview with Senator Zell Miller on MSNBC, which started hot and then grew angry after a question about reporters and freedom the press.

"You're hopeless," Miller told Matthews, dead serious, speaking over a hook-up from Madison Square Garden, where he had earlier delivered the keynote address. "I wish I was with you there because I want to get in your face." Then Miller said he wished they were back in the age when you could challenge someone to a duel. "I don't know why I came on this program," he added, amidst four minutes of heated exchanges.

Matthews had gotten on Miller's case right from the start, asking him if he really believed what he had said in his speech about Senator John Kerry wanting to defend America with "spitballs." As Miller fudged his answer, and Matthews in his customary style cut him short or talked over him, they each started shouting. Miller told Matthews to "get out of my face," later saying he wanted to get in Matthews' face.

Then Matthews asked him why he had said in his speech that "it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press." Matthews said it was such an obvious thing to say, wasn't he just looking for an easy "anti-media" applause line? That's when Miller went ballistic and nearly stalked off, with Matthews, not exactly backing down, struggling to calm him, which he did, after another minute of shouting.

I love that righteous anger the GOP types put on. It was about the only time I saw Matthews almost stunned by what was going on. Did you notice that ? Chris actually got quiet for a few seconds as zigzag zell was going ballistic. You know what was funnier? Those people behind Matthews watching the TV screen of Zell, they were laughing their heads off at zell.

He called Miller's rant "hate speech", and reminded us that Miller learned his trade under Lester Maddox.

It was nauseating right after the speech to see Miller all sweet-faced in his surprise that people thought he sounded "angry".

I wish I'd seen the Matthews bit; sadly there's no repeat tonight.

51. Georgian responses
Fellow Georgians far from lukewarm

In Atlanta, Democrats attending rallies against him jeered as a turncoat the man who went on national television and condemned his own party's leaders.

In Atlanta, Democrats gathered at Manuel's Tavern, a famous Democratic hangout, booed Miller's image on the big-screen TVs and punctuated his statements with blasts from pink whoopie cushions.

Miller's portrait, which had hung for years in a place of honor in the bar, was officially veiled in preparation for its move to a remote corner.

Earlier, many in the crowd had gathered at the Park Place Tavern for an anti-Miller rally that culminated in the mock divorce of Miller from a costumed Democratic donkey.

58. Zel Miller is the Benedict Arnold of our time. . . if not worse.
He is making his living now trying to sell his book. Zel knows without any type of media hooplah, his book gets put in the back of the bookstore.

Zel was known in the past as Zig-Zag Zel for his inconsistency in his voting and now, obviously, in what party he wants affiliation with.

Did you notice that after his speech he was up sitting side by side with Bush 41? Zel never got that close to any Democratic President. Zel got pissed off at the Dems during Clinton's Presidency. Who knows why.

I don't know why any liberal media is talking to any of these Republicans trying to get interviews. When Randi Rhodes got an interview with some senator, during the break, she said he threw down his headset and walked off. Then Zel on Hardball with Matthews.

Zel kept telling Chris Matthews that he wouldn't be talking to him the way that he was if Mr. Miller was over there face-to-face with Chris. Chris was just asking Miller about what he said in his speech. Miller was the one that accused Chris of "twisting" his words, which he wasn't. Then Miller brought up what Chris did to Michelle Malken (that little girl as Zel put it). Michelle Malken was accusing Kerry of hurting himself to get purple hearts and Matthews thought that was just unbelievably irresponsible and untrue. He asked for her sources and she said it was in the book, "Unfit to Serve." Matthews said it was not, not one of those veterans accused Kerry of such things. Malken insisted it was in the book.

Michelle Malken is an Ann Coulter wannabe. They both lack the same intelligence and common sense. Malken does, however, look like she does eat something once in a while, unlike Coulter, who should be the poster child for anorexia. (beating out Lara-Flynn Doyle as well as Calista Flockhart).

I really look at it that either Zel got so pissed off during the Clinton years that he has filled himself with hate and contempt for the party that served him well up until his last term . . .or . . . he is getting paid very well (like the swiftboat veterans) to trash anything, anyone democratic.

Plus, he needs to sell his book.
