Two Memes From My Teenage Kids
While listening to convention coverage last night, my teens referred to Republicans as the party of paradox, and party switching Democrats as Traitorcrats. Don't know where they got the memes, but they had me rolling on the floor laughing!

5. Thanks!
Our favorite Saturday morning game when they were children was deconstructing commercials.

8. De-constructing commercials
What a great game for kids.
It will inoculate them from being led around by the nose by the media.
Great job.

2. Traitorcats has a nice ring to it.
But Zell is a sideshow, and needs to be treated as such. We've had nonsense dominate the political debate for a week now; it's time for some hard hitting, issues-focused campaigning. I like what I've been hearing coming from Edwards, who is zeroing in on the theme that we can't be strong anywhere if we aren't strong at home.

4. You're Right, BB
Zell is a side show, but we can use him to shore up the Democratic base; drive home the message that only flip-floppers support Bush.

I like the "party of paradox" better. Alliteration is catchy and an icon using a 'pair of ducks' could counteract the 'pair of flip-flops' icon the Repubs are using.

We can quote a whole list of contradictory Republican positions and underline them with "Republicans: The Party of Paradox" followed by a pair of yellow rubber duckies.

wadayathink?

6. Party of paradox puts the focus where it should be:
on the Republicans. The problem I have with it is the use of the word "paradox," which violates the 6th grade rule: if it can't be easily understood by someone with a 6th grade education, then it's too complex to be an effective message. "Traitorcats" is direct and anyone can understand it; "Party of paradox" requires context and an appreciation for nuance to give it meaning. Those are baaaaaaaaad words in the current political landscape.
