How much do you want to bet Zig Zag Zell changes parties?
How much would you want to bet he crosses over to the join the GOP officially and decides to to stay on as a Senator or at least try to keep his seat as a Republican?

1. He's being paid to stay a "Dem"
It's a stronger story that way. What a bozo.

7. I want Zealot Miller to read this to the convention goers.
Cheney is ignoring his own record.

"We have to get on with the business of cutting…We have to cut out those things we don't need. We have to cut out those things that we can do without in the military area, that we can do without in terms of the complex that is the Department of Defense…Over the course of the last year, since I've been Secretary, I've recommended terminating, canceling, shutting down 20 separate weapons programs." - Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney, 4/30/90

8. No. He was on CNN right after the speech last night. He said
he'll stay a Democrat because he was born a Democrat. When he gets to the Pearly Gates, he wants to be able to tell his "Mom and Daddy" that he stayed a Democrat.

Didn't know the entrance to Satan's lair was called Pearly Gates too.

10. It doesn't matter what party he is now
He's retiring after this year. There's not enough time for the Republicans to even take advantage of a switch from Zell as the Democrats could really tie everything up with procedural maneuvers for the rest of the term. Now if he had switched at the start of the year then it would be a whole different story, but it's too late for a switch from Zell to really change much.

12. Let's sell the motherjumper to the Republican party ...
... we can use the money for more pro-Kerry, anti-Bush ads.

Zell Miller is an ignoramus.

13. He's angling for a cabinet post in a 2nd Bush Administration,
But, since the odds of 4 more years of Bush is far from certain, I'd say Miller is really wasting his time.

15. Can not happen
We, here in Georgia, have had our primary and the two U.S.Senate candidates are on the ballot for Nov.2nd.
Republican candidate to replace Zell is Johnny Isackson.
He will face our democratic candidate, Denise Majette. Denise gave up her 4th district U.S. House seat to run for the Senate. The seat she gave up is the one that she won only 2 years ago by defeating Cynthia McKinney in the dem primary. Cynthia will retake her old seat in January. She won the dem primary and faces only token repub opposition in Nov. in an overwhelming democratic district. Majette's chances are considered slim (tough to elect an African American and a female on a STATEWIDE basis here in Ga.). However, not impossible. She would need big coattails from Kerry/Edwards. Those of us in Ga. working to elect Kerry/Edwards will not give up despite the conventional wisdom that we are now a solid "red" state.

Zell's plans are to promote his book and then hit the speaker banquet. He gets more media play by "remaining a democrat - in name only" - switching parties (even in his retirement) would actually get him less attention than remaining a democrat and going out and blasting his party that he claims has "lost its way". Sad, truly sad, what has happened to this man.
