Interesting Spanish Media Coverage
While I'm far from bilingual, I have noticed something that maybe some of the Hispanic DU'ers can verify and/or explain.

During the DNC, I scanned all the channels and each night the two major Spanish networks: Univision and Telemundo carried at least an hour of prime time coverage, including the speeches by Clinton, Obama and Kerry.

This week, I was scanning again and neither of these networks are doing any live coverage. No coverage of Ahnuld or Roodeee or Crashcart or Zell "Mr. Haney" Miller. And I wonder if they'll have be covering his assholiness' talk show tonight. I can imagine trying to translate Bunnypants must require combat pay.

Last weekend on CNN I saw one of the Univision people saying the Repugnicans have really upset the hispanic communities and registration is way up in places like Arizona and Colorado. He hinted that there's a ticking Hispanic time bomb about to blow up on the Repugnicans if they don't stop their immigrant and Hispanic baiting.

From a contact in Miami, I'm hearing there's a lot of unrest in little Havana...people really upset at both Jebby and Junior and, even Mel Martinez, isn't going to get them going to the polls in anywhere near the numbers they did in 2000...on the heels of the Elian fiasco.

Again, I'm curious the take from Hispanic DU'ers. I feel very optimistic as the GOOP's big tent is starting to really collapse and is turning into the Angry White Man's party. That's gotta have a chilling effect in various minority communities.

Cheers...

BTW - Also while scanning, while all the major Chicago TV stations were airing the one hour of prime time last night, the local Faux affiliate opted not to carry either Miller or Chenney. Interesting....

1. Proves again - talk is cheap. A heritage of genuine action remains
in the memory. Dems never/rarely go on an immigrant bashing tirade and their record is good no matter who is talking - a congressperson, a caller on a talk show, or a maniacal host.

2. The Hispanic vote is Kerry's to keep or lose and a lot depends on
any further utterances coming out of him and his advisors related to Cuba/Castro and Venezuela/Chavez. Someone please talk sense to him and his advisors. Hispanics are a precious vote. He needs to talk sense to the Cubans. It's a very rocky road, I know....but perpetuating the Cuba and Venzuela right wing positions and agendas is wrong.
