Colin Powell's Band Aid Purple Heart
Is it worth reminding the press that Colin Powell's Purple Heart was earned by his having stepped upon a pungee stick? It was virtually a flesh wound. (a lazy Google turned up www.subcontinent.com/sapra/world/global/20001219a.html)

Instead of condeming the war, he personified everything Kerry railed against. He was a principle agent in covering up the My Lai massacre (www.consortiumnews.com/archive.colin3.html)

Is it not ironic that the only Purple Heart veteran in the Bush cabinet is not asked what his story is?

3. We both benefit from the expert research done at DU
I forgot about Ridge. Also, I forgot someone here once reported that Bush's nick-name for Powell is "Puffy Foot."

2. Let's ask Colin @ his purple heart!

He was so happy to show his photoshop stuff at the UN.
He was happy to send our children, not his, to this unjust war.
Let's ask Colin about his Purple Heart!

4. I don't give a crap
what you feel about Powell. Say what you think about his action during and after his service but knock out the "It was virtually a flesh wound" comments.
I don't care which side is saying it- there is NO PLACE for questioning who deserved their purple hearts and who didn't.

6. of course you're correct
but don't lose sight of the hypocrisy on the other side.

Powell deserved his purple heart, because he served with honor, so why should John Kerry be treated any different?

9. I have not lost sight of their hypocrisy
By not means, and when a-holes like Dole jump in, I would say he was fair game as well except obviously the dementia has set in and deserves pity not outrage.

The point is there are hundreds of example of how this administration is pissing on those who serve. There is no need in denigrating anyone honorable service to score political points.

13. Viagra psychosis is my diagnosis
of course I'm not *that* kind of doctor but I am an enthusiastic amateur. The only thing that explains his recent comments is brain damage from all that Viagra he shills.

8. I'm with you---there is no such thing as a "minor" battle wound
a purple heart is a purple heart and I won't criticize anyone who earned one. period.

10. Double Standards?
Bob Dole’s 1st Purple Heart

During WW2 Dole threw a grenade at a farm house. It bounced off of a
tree and back at him and his fellow soldiers injuring some of them and him. This was an accidental self-inflicted minor wound.
It was a small piece of metal that entered his leg. It was pulled out and he resumed his activities. He was a awarded a Purple Heart for this. Should he have refused this award? Should he now send it back? These despicable people are mocking him and any other Veteran that has been awarded a Purple Heart for similar incidents.

Powell's could also be mentioned. So could most likely thousands of others.

The bandaide joke is not amusing.

14. Correct. It is not up to the injured to award the
Purple Heart, or any award. There would be a lot of people with the Congressional Medal of Honor if they allowed it.

15. Well, we don't know that
After all, I haven't seen the Bob Dole Certificate of Sufficient Bleeding awarded to Mr. Powell, so there's just no way to tell if it's a REAL Purple Heart or just something to pump up his resume.

12. Colin Powell....hmm...who is he again? Oh yeah...
Where has Colin Powell been hiding - more important, where have the Bushies been hiding Colin Powell? And, for the most part, Condi? Rummy? Has Rover sent them all on holidays to get them out of the way?
