NYT, Wash. Post, CNN, WSJ Review of Zell's Meltdown: READ!

snip-

"The former keynoter at the '92 Democratic convention totally overshadowed the vice president of the United States. He looked really hostile -- even if you turned the sound off -- as he eviscerated Kerry. No flicker of a smile ever crossed his lips."

So much for trying to appeal to swing voters. The man accused by Democrats of being a Zellout did all his swinging at Kerry.

"I wonder if it was smart to have him out there in such a hot fashion," said George Stephanopoulos.

"He looked angry," said Mara Liasson.

"Miller went over the line into demagoguery," said Mort Kondracke, by accusing the Dems of defaming American troops

Snip-

He really got kicked around on CNN. "I've never heard such an angry speech," said Bill Schneider -- even angrier, he said, than Pat Buchanan's "culture war" address in '92.

"I don't think I've ever seen anything as angry and ugly as Miller's speech," said Joe Klein.

The Wall Street Journal's John Harwood said Miller "looked like a spouse at a divorce proceeding who says, 'Oh yeah, she's a child molester too.' "

The New York Times called it "a memorably brutal attack on Mr. Kerry and the Democratic Party."

It's a good read.

Thank you Zell, you bitter, angry, sad sad little man. You make Mr. Burns from the Simpsons look like Santa Claus! :toast:

6. I think Zell is not Well
He really seemed rather crazy talking to Chris Matthews. Seriously. I think the GOP has taken advantage of an old, mentally-ill man.

13. I think the GOP has taken advantage ....
... of more than one old, mentally-ill man by pumping their platform full of piss and vinegar and fear and hate and appealing to the most base elements of human nature ...

21. Yes... some kind of organic brain disease-- whether Alzheimers or
something else. It will become clear in the not so distant future, but of course all will have forgotten the Repug's role in exploiting obvious mental/emotional illness at that point............

My question though, is what on earth is his family thinking? Surely they MUST realize with this dramatic anger and personality change that something is wrong. Who knows....

16. The Loony Toons Convention
Maybe that's how we should refer to this convention

First the bandaids that offended the purple heart vets,

Next a son of a Nazi speaker who claims that Nixon was his first American hero,

Then the idiotic spoiled brat giggling twins,

And last night a mean speech by a mean man who brings his straight daughter to the stage while his gay daughter sits in the audience,

Plus a George Wallace type speech from an obviously unstable man who challenges a questioner to a duel

I don't know how any news media people can avoid acknowledging to himself that the Republicans are taking this country in a very dangerous direction indeed.

18. Great stuff...Zell even chased Sully out of the puke party altogether
Last night was therefore a revealing night for me. I watched a Democrat at a GOP Convention convince me that I could never be a Republican. If they wheel out lying, angry old men like this as their keynote, I'll take Obama. Any day.
