3. Oh come on!
Would you give it a rest? Everyone knows conventions give bounces, all of which are short lived. By the end of next week, they'll be running even again.

20. I did about an hour ago
it got about 10 responses and then sunk off the page--I just kicked it back up. It appears people respond more to bad news than good.

12. New Poll
Show 99.9% of respondent agree elections aren't won posting poll results (good or bad) to Democratic underground.

Time to quit talking and start working. I'm heading out in about a half hour to the local college and registering voters.

Anyone care to join me?

6. Some of us here knew he should have been fighting back hard
these last few weeks yet whenever we would bring it up we got shouted down as a bunch of "doom and gloomers."

10. Because you still are doom and gloomers.
Every f'ing convention gives a bounce! And almost every convention bounce goes away within a week or two. Get a grip!

think everything went wrong because a party got a bounce during their convention.

18. It costs money to fight back
And timing is everything in a campaign.

By the time Nov 2nd comes around no one will even remember any of the Smear Boat Liars B.S.

Trust me.

14. that was yesterday
so it means that Rasmussen had a big day for Bush on Wednesday--something like a 10-point lead. That kind of bump won't last.

He gave a great gift to the Kerry campaign with his over the top hatemongering speech.

13. Might as well join Berube on the dark side now
http://www.michaelberube.com/index.php?id=P252

... Everyone wants to know: how could I do it? After a lifetime of believing passionately in egalitarian social justice, in democratic secularism, in human rights for every living human regardless of race, gender, sexuality, or disability, how could I flip to the Republicans in only one night of watching the convention on TV? Exactly how stupid or craven am I?

Well, let's try to figure out just whose horn is being swoggled, people. Do you know how much money we're talking about here? I've spent my adult life as a member of the liberal cultural elite, living in college towns and teaching literature. I thought I was pretty sharp, with my "postmodern" this and my "cultural studies" that. But do you have any idea how the real elite in this country live? Holy mother of God in a public creche, folks, you can't begin to imagine the perks around here. To hell with the cultural elite– they couldn't see Dick Cheney's tax bracket if the entire English department at Harvard stood on each other's shoulders. The political elite is where it's at, people, the economic elite. Now there's an elite. And let me tell you, it is mighty, mighty fine up here. No more Genny Cream Ale in cans for me– there's nothing in this suite but Macallan and Stoli. And the servants couldn't be nicer. Everyone here treats them with honest-to-God conservative compassion, and they seem to be just fine with that.

19. Relax...anyone who didn't think Bushco would get a bounce was
living in that alternate reality that sometimes clouds DU.

Bush WILL have his bounce...it's just the way it works.

In a few weeks, we should be DEAD even again.

23. The Rasmussen is a tracking poll
Taken over a very small period of time (Literally an hour or two) and with a small number of people.A snapshot, rather than a running indication of polling If you look at the methodology, they do a three day rolling average of each days polls, and today is the beginning of a nre peoriod of calculation so there is no averaging in todays poll, as today is the start of a new polling period for them. Todays polls are not averaged in with the last three days.

remember that, even with the Buchanan speech debacle, Pappy Bush got a five point bounce in 1992. Didn't win, though did he....
