"Edwards Assails GOP Speakers on Issues"
NEW YORK (AP) - Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards fought back Thursday after a torrent of Republican criticism of John Kerry, saying GOP convention speakers used angry rhetoric to attack his running mate but ignored key issues like jobs and health care.

Edwards made the rounds of morning talk shows to respond to blistering attacks leveled against Kerry by Vice President Dick Cheney and Sen. Zell Miller, D-Ga., who said the Democratic candidate waffles on important issues, particularly national defense.

On ABC's "Good Morning America," Edwards said the attacks were "completely over the top" and made him mad.

About claims that Kerry's record on defense issues is weak, he said, "It's just false, it's not true."

1. Well that can't be right
Everyone from Bartcop to 3/4 of the folks here keep trying to tell me that the Democrats aren't fighting back, that they're just meekly accepting everything thrown at them. I'm sure the network and cable outlets would rush to get it on the air if ever was heard a discouraging word, right?

Now I got a new problem: Should I believe what "everyone" is saying, or my own eyes? Think, think.

6. It's quite a dilemma, isn't it?

No doubt some will say if he didn't use the words they want him to use 'it didn't happen' -- he didn't actually fight back. So, yeah, should you believe them, or your lyin' eyes?

3. Now for the lame "ownership" speech Bush will give
Selfish, venomous, grab-everything-for-yourself, frightened of the world, full of mockery for the "little people" who fought in his place in Vietnam when he couldn't be bothered...

Bush tries to re-make America in his own image.

4. He should just say, look, all they have are lies----they don't have any
substance, they don't have plans, they don't have anything except lies and smears. And fear mongering.

8. Democrats need to mount a counter attack on Zell "Zig-Zagger"
with the objective of totally discrediting him. To allow him any credibility is to have to fight ever-continuing battles with him because he will keep shifting his accusations and muddling the water - which is his intention in the first place. Zell "Zig-Zag" Miller has shown, yesterday, that he has no compunction about telling lies and using false insinuations. To allow him room to maneuver will be the most idiotic thing we can do. We need to bring him down completely and mercilessly.
