There is a Republican in my office who is going to vote for Nader!!
Today I was asked (because I'm known for being political) if I have been watching the RNC. I said, "No, too many lies" besides I'm working a second job at night too. But anyhow, this lady, very nice, I like her, but a long time republican and husband was career military--since retired piped in saying, "I can't stand to watch it either. That Senator from Georgia belongs in a mental hospital." Then she surprised me by saying, "I've been a Republican all my life. I don't like Kerry. I don't trust him. I don't trust Bush either so I'm between a rock and a hard place. I will vote but I'm going to vote for Nader."

Unbelievable.

5. You don't have to like him (JFK), just vote for him.
Think about all those dreamers voting for Bush 'cause they would rather have a beer with him... as if that MIGHT ever happen!

Howard Dean is my President, but I'm voting for Kerry.

9. The "reasoning" on this is so amusing
I actually think these Republicans are reasoning that "a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush," as it was described in 2000.

They haven't figured out yet that this year a vote for Nader is a vote for Kerry. But ssssshhhh, don't tell 'em.

12. How is that?
I still feel like a vote for nader is a vote for bush (or at least here in La.). Please help me understand your reasoning.

15. If the voter is only willing to consider
a vote for Bush or a vote for Nader, then voting for Nader is a minus one in the Bush column.

Most of the Nader voters in 2000 would never have considered voting for Bush, but might have voted for Gore. Hence, they took votes away from Gore.

16. Unless they were going to vote for Kerry
then he doesn't lose their vote. This person obviously wasn't ever going to vote for Kerry, but he/she might have voted for Bush. So Nader takes the vote from Bush, not Kerry.

10. "I don't trust Kerry"
Err, why? Because some TV ads attempt to muddy his service in Vietnam 35 years ago?

:eyes:

I'll never understand some people.

11. What doesn't she trust about Kerry?
Is it that she thinks he will get us in to a needless war we can't win? Is it that he might dump the economy into the crapper? Is it that he might divide this nation more than it's been since the Civil War?
I can go on... I just wonder what she doesn't trust.

their minds about voting for Bush now because of this horrid speech.

14. Doesn't surprise me at all.
To me a key component of a "true" Republican is fiscal responsibility. This Bush administration is clearly anything but. On the other hand, a great many conservative view Kerry's post service activities with pure disgust. Such a person has 2 choices. Vote for Nader, or don't vote at all.

Plus, given the widely held opinion that Nader votes helped sink Gore in 2000, I bet some unthinking types might think "I can't get myself to vote for Bush. But I'll vote for Nader, and that will hurt Kerry."
