Texas is fairing the best right now (ironic thank you to oil and gas, i guess, LOL)

husband and i are in the public sector - i feel like we will be okay. in fact, i wouldn't trade for a job in the private sector for nothing right about now. both cars paid off, fixed rate mortgage, established, older, 'renovated' neighborhood. (we had wanted to do some renovating ourselves, but think we'll be waiting on that)

BUT...

mother works in CPA firm in Houston - no retirement to speak of, FR mortgage, but she'd never get out from under that house w/o at least $50,000 in fixes/renovations.

sister rents, is a low-level supervisor (BofA of all places!)

dad works for UP - was due to retire in August...but postponed b/c he's 'worried' (supposedly, the RR is very careful w/ their pensions, since they don't get SS...but he's lost a LOT of his 401K)

HUSBAND's family is all in one of the northern 'rust belt' states - parents are retired, but numerous siblings in all sorts of service/technology jobs

friends working in IT and LOTS of construction-related businesses.

bottom line...what's the potential? who is in 'at risk' positions, in your esteemed opinions?

hypothetically speaking of course...i know it will all recuperate nicely tomorrow. *snort*

guess...i'm either looking for reassurance for me and mine (as are we all, of course)...or who i should pray for the most...:)

Take a deep breath ... handle issues as they arrive and help those in need. Worry will only harm you and make you less able to help should a need arise. That's really the best thing you can do for the one's you love.

Here, have a flower instead

Everything is sort of being held in the balance right now. If you have a job or investments, diversify and brace yourself. I wish I could offer more. I'm concerned too. My husband works for a Fortune 500 tech company, but we live paycheck to paycheck in the worst way and I don't even know what this will mean for him.
