1. It's just rhetoric
Don't fall for that baloney. It's like Bush saying the economy is improving.

12. LOL! I feel that way, too, lots of times!
What the heck happened to my country? Did I slip into a parallel universe?

4. Neither blind, nor drugged - just completely on message
Unlike Democrats, Republicans don't publicly whine, complain and attack their candidate when things aren't going well. They just stay on message, never let their game face slip, and keep plugging away. And that means continuing to insist that everythin is great even when they're not. But if they persist, the conventional wisdom moves with them and they get the big mo.

We can learn from them.

19. Agreed. They are better flim-flam artists than we are.
But look what happened to CNN when they tried to emulate Fox. Things got worse. All that whoring with nothing to show for it.

21. let's learn some things
but lock-step thinking and lemming behavior are not qualities that I favor. But kicking some butt ala Carville sounds pretty good.

5. Psy Ops
they want dems to think they have it in the bag so people won't vote. If they really do believe it though - let them. It'll be their folly because our base is solid - much more than it was in 2000.

6. Why shouldn't the rethugs be optimistic?
If the "response" to zig zag and Cheney does not get a lot tougher than what we've seen so far, it says go ahead and lie as much as you want about Kerry, the dems will just continue to run a "respectable" (and losing, IMO) campaign.

Sheesh the rethugs have been doing this for 34 years. When is Kerry going to wake up?

13. I'm wide awake.
I saw Nixon do this to Humphrey and McGovern.

I saw Reagan do this to Carter and Mondale, Bush 41 to Dukakis, and I watched with dismay as Gore ran an idiotic campaign to let this chimp take the White House.

This is a bad movie repeating itself, in front of my eyes.

This election is being won or lost TODAY, not Nov. 2.

I am very disappointed with the Kerry campaign today.

18. Well, you aren't any more wide-awake than the rest of us
And I saw all that too. I still think you'll be the one waking up.

20. I hope you're right.
Really, I do. And until today, I would have agreed, but as I said I am very disappointed with the Kerry response today.

I think all the historical evidence does not support your POV that everything will turn out all right. The typical American voter is not very well informed or very smart.

11. It would do Kerry's campaign team well to remember what Bentsen said
to Dukakis in '88: "Where I come from, politics is a contact sport!"

9. Very interesting actually ...
Edited on Thu Sep-02-04 02:31 PM by annxburns
The quote I read said they feel like they have it in the bag so they don't have to offer any plans with specifics or detailed agendas for Kerry to attack ...

This says to me a couple of things:

1. They are irresponsible cowards
2. They have no money for plans because he blew the budget.
3. They are afraid to offer any specifics because they know the American people would disagree with them .

it's a reference to his drinking. And yes, they are blind AND drugged. To think Zell Miller was civil takes large quantities of alcohol and prozac.
