CNN: "Spotlight is on Bush, but hurricane could steal it"
If you remember the OJ Simpson white Ford Bronco police chase, you will also remember that David Hasselhoff had a Pay-Per-View event the same day. Hasselhoff's event faired dismally, he later blamed it on news coverage of OJ.

According to CNN, history could repeat itself tonight:

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/grind/

Exactly two months before Election Day, President Bush holds a theater-in-the-round in the Garden tonight, accepting his renomination while laying out "vision," etc.

Within hours of his speech, however, Hurricane Frances could come crashing into Florida, one of the biggest battleground states, threatening to distract our gaze from the Bush-Cheney-McCain send-off. And John Kerry heads for another, Ohio.

As the Big Apple grows small in their rear-view mirror, the GOP ticket embarks on a cross-country tour starting tonight in Pennsylvania and continuing onto Ohio, Iowa and Wisconsin.

2. Bush now frantically practicing his best "hunch and bob" in the mirror
in his typical style of hunching over the podium and bobbing his head up and down for his big moment tonight. It will make all the difference in the world.

10. The only dude in a light brown suit I see is Karen Hughes...
http://archive.salon.com/opinion/conason/2004/04/27/hughes/

"Among the press corps that covered the 2000 campaign, her instinct to conceal and dissemble was well known. Indeed, conservative journalist Tucker Carlson suggested last year that her willingness to lie for Bush "almost crosses over ... into mental illness." Feigning indignation over comments made by Kerry more than 30 years ago would pose no challenge for Hughes."

Yeah, his "hunch and bob" and pounding the air with an outstretched right hand.

Important point: hunch, bob, pound the air with the right hand.

5. God's Wrath?
Doesn't it strike one as providential that a massively vengeful act of god should hit Florida, the iniquitous scene of the Bush family illegal coup, domain of his complicit brother in crime, within hours after the prodigal son accepts the nomination of that pit of vipers that call themselves Republicans? Maybe Bush really is the instrument of some greater power. But not a higher one.

13. Jesus--wouldn't it be divine justice?? Couldn't write a novel
that could compare. Bush speaks and Jeeeesus attacks the scene of the crime in Florida. Jesus said: "You people put that asshole into office again, and I'll wipe you off the face of the earth".

14. I hope the poor and disfranchised are not hurt in Florida.
On the other hand, the big mansions need to be rebuilt. The question is: are they going to outsource the builders to India?
