I'm sad after that RENO, NV speech
That was SO damned good!

I just realized, though, once this thing is over, and Obama is sitting in the White House, is he going to have occassion to give so many fantastic, uplifting speeches?

These things really stir me. He should make it a point to do something different with the "weekly radio addresses" or something. Give them outdoors with a crowd in different parts of the nation as part of a big speech.

When he's actually in there working from the Oval Office, we're still going to need him in an inspirational way. I hope he finds a way to deliver us this too.

We're hurting here, and need the man!

David

He once said his job as president would also be to inspire people to do the right things.

2. Well, actually he has, his idea is to have a weekly Oval Office webcast. It's
just the beginning of how he wants to use new technology and implement change.

3. FDR spoke to the nation often
FDR knew that the way out of our problems back then was to make people believe. I think Obama will have the same leadership style when he is in office.

(it must have been amazing to be there.!)

<"In his first fireside chat, Franklin Roosevelt told his fellow Americans that “..there is an element in the readjustment of our financial system more important than currency, more important than gold, and that is the confidence of the people themselves. Confidence and courage are the essentials of success in carrying out our plan. Let us unite in banishing fear. Together, we cannot fail.” >

5. How about calling them the fireside chats with spirit of FDR brought back

it has a friendlier sound to it either way from weekly radio address - to formal sounding for the average american.

I do not understand why the Dem's are not using this valuable party history in this our time of great financial crisis more ? Give us back the values of community need met in our unity of hope, faith and continue strength when we band together in meeting a common foe behind a great leader.

:grr:

6. That would be awesome!
Those weekly radio addresses (at least GWB's) are soooo snoozy. I want something more ALIVE, organic, something that moves me on a regular basis.

Something to look forward to.

10. He is going to have a VERY tough job
and he will probably be criticized right and left (literally). But he will probably make time to reach out to the country.

12. We're gonna see a lot of him in the years to come...
Maybe you're thinking he's going to hide behind his handlers like the Chimperor and Palin. After 8 years of the Repuke's shit of disappearing into the shadows, it's almost hard to envision a leader coming out to meet the people. Well, that's one of the biggest changes coming this January.

Obama may not go to stadiums or town squares after that, but bet your bottom dollar he'll be giving way more press conferences, and he'll be on the TV addressing the people's needs far more often.

Unlike the current squatter, who bothers to drag himself out of his foxhole only when there's a huge national calamity afoot. :eyes:
