Is there really any doubt if the election were held today, we'd win in a blowout?

Now we just have to bottle this momentum and keep it for a few more weeks. We do that, and early evening on November 4th will begin the Obama landslide.

The good news: Not much is left from here until election day that can slip Obama up. Oh sure, I'm sure McCain will try to run some really nasty ads in the final hours of the campaign, but will any of it be new? No. Could the debate slip Obama up? Sure, but they rarely change the race. So this is where we'll stand on the first of October, with Obama leading McCain by nearly 8 points nationally.

If we end October the same way, this election will be pretty much over.

Yes, I know, don't get complacent, and I'm not, but it's good to feel confident this time around.

1. Never underestimate the stupidity of some voters
There are huge numbers of people willing to completely vote against their own self-interests because of one specific issue (e.g., people will be willing to starve, lose their homes, and die for lack of affordable quality healthcare, all in the off-chance of preventing one donated embryo from being used for important medical research).

It's already happened twice.

3. You are exactly right.
My father-in-law is a perfect example of this. He is a very intelligent man, but his main criteria for supporting a candidate is how they will support Israel -- that's it.

We got into a rather heated discussion the other night about this, and there is no changing his way of thinking.

9. I think we need to be more vigilant than ever
I have no faith whatsoever in the American public. This is a historical election and we need to ensure that history is written the way it is unfolding now. Never underestimate the filthyness of the Republicans.

10. Not if those who oppose a rescue plan shift the blame from GOP to Democrats
like a lot seem to want to happen, by opposing it out of pure economic ignorance
