6. They really believe that viewers don't trust their own eyes
The theory goes that they can say anything even when the visual right in front of them is completely opposite and the spoken word will be what viewers believe. I saw this during the WMD search when the guy Shepard (I think that's who it was) was in a bunker looking at barrels with an inspector and the inspector said these are just barrels of insecticide and the reporter(Shepard) turns toward the camera and says "There you go folks these are the weapons we've been looking for" with the inspector behind him going "No, no it's just bug spray"....
