Poll question: Rate this Campaign Strategy
Edited on Thu Sep-02-04 04:29 PM by troublemaker
"Despite losing ground in polls, Kerry believes he has cleared the national security hurdle with most voters and plans to focus mostly on health care and the economy leading up to Nov. 2, Lockhart said. This sets the stage for the two presidential campaigns to compete on vastly different battlegrounds: Bush, staking his reelection on his ability to lead the war on terrorism; Kerry, promising more available health care and better education in exchange for higher taxes on the rich."

1. Any reporter who pretends to know what the Kerry strategy is - is lying.

2. I have no doubt Kerry will focus on domestic issues
but I'm sure there will be more to the campaign. Lockhart wouldn't reveal the entire strategy to the media.

3. Agreed. But is the stated strategy itself good or bad?
Edited on Thu Sep-02-04 04:32 PM by troublemaker
Usually I'm pretty opinionated, but when I read that I realized that I could argue either side with ease. It's one of those things that's either brilliant or cosmically stupid, but who knows which?

(Tomorrow's unemployment numbers may go a long way toward resolving the question.)

4. Is Jim VandeHei's imaginary strategy good or bad? I couldn't care less.

In a few years, the insider books about the campaign will come out, and then we will be able to judge whether the Kerry campaign's strategy was a good one.
