What is being done to reach out to moderate Republicans?
It's ironic that the party that has all but canonized Reagan has forgotten that Reagan's greatest political strength was reaching across party lines and swaying democrats to vote for him. Even as they slap a halo on Reagan's head, they attack and villify democrats.

I've heard that Rove thinks he can win with just the con base if they can get them to the polls. After last night I believe that's his strategy.

I'm wondering what is being done to reach out to the more moderate republicans. Kerry and Edwards speaking must be reaching some, but is there more that is being done? More that could bedone?

1. I've seen many threads here lately
that begin with "I hate Republicans" or "I don't want a Republican as a friend."

Political discourse has been reduced to, "Shut up, scumbag!" How do we even begin to talk of bipartisanship?

Before anyone flames, I'm talking about both parties here. How does anyone breach the divide? Hate certainly won't help.

2. Our Candidate and our convention weren't hate-filled like theirs.
That's a message that America will pick up on.

3. Many of us here are angry...
...angry at the media, the GOP leadership, and the Republicans that have allowed these neocons to get into power. But from what I've seen, Kerry/Edwards are all about reaching out and unifying.

For one thing, Kerry is ignoring the advice of DUers who want Kerry to be a liberal Rush Limbaugh

among their own base from what they were in 2000 -- ergo, we were all right here at DU to think all this dishonorable, disgusting, despicable behavior/tactics are all a sign of rovian desperation ...

11. There are various "Republicans For Kerry" websites around.
All they gotta do is Google those words, and at least a dozen sites will pop up.
