Wes Clark kicking Blitzer butt!
Edited on Thu Sep-02-04 04:51 PM by thatgirl
Says Zell doesn't understand democracy. Bush is Commander in Cheif of military, not the American People. His only accomplishment is this war and it's our duty to question him

Go Wes!

19. so this took me too, this is it. in baptist religion
this is how they treat their people. that they need to be guided. they cannot interpret bible, be love ergo christ conscious without them. the people that go into these groups are people that think they cannot find it within themselves, that someone has to give it to them. why they say only people that are amongst them can truly find god. this isnt true. but the personality of these people need to be lead

nevah...........even as a baby, i remember stories told of me, have i need another to lead me. i have always had faith in self

this goes exactly to what bush is doing with our nation. why it disgusts me so, i have nevah allowed this in life and here they are trying to impose on me. and it is because they are weak, ultimately they are the ones without faith..........looking to lead

4. That was a GREAT line by Wes
The Republicans would try to convince us that we are all soldiers under his Holiness George Bush, good Christian soldiers. We are not under the orders of Bush, as he is NOT the Commander In Chief of the civilian American people. We are not an armed camp. We are not living in Nazi Germany.

27. Bingo. Christian soldiers.
We're either with them or we're heathens who deserve to die. That's what they're trying to impose on the entire country. No sale. The country's document is the Constitution, not anybody's bible.

These people don't understand democracy. Wes Clark is right.

7. The GOP basically thinks you can't ever question WAR
GOP Memes:

If you question a war before the War starts, you are hurting the President and helping the enemy.

If you question a war during the fighting you are hurting the troops

If you question a war after you are hurting the honor of veterans who fought.

So as O'Reilly would say, "Shut Up"

did a tremendous SMACKDOWN of Wolfie! Man he was good! I just LOVE how he smiled when Wolfie read that quote from Zell Miller's speech about how the Democrats are destroying our Democracy. Wes just chuckled and that's when said what you quoted. So Sweeeet!

<sigh> He was just fantastic! :bounce:

in every sense.

He knows that there has to be honesty and integrity in the military AND civilian command structure in order for our country to prosper.

The more Clark talks, the better I like him.

22. I loved the whole thing......of what Wes said on CNN....
BLITZER: Let me just get your specific reaction to this charge. And you spent more than thirty years in the United States military. "Our nation is being torn apart and made weaker because of the democrats manic obsession to bring down our commander in chief." You're one of those democrats and I want your specific response, how you felt when Zell Miller said that last night.

CLARK: I think he's a man that really doesn't understand democracy. Look, first, George Bush is commander-in-chief of the armed forces, but he's not the commander-in-chief of the American people. He's not the commander-in-chief of our government. We have a democracy and his conduct in the office of the presidency is subject to approval by the American people. And so the major thing he has done is to take us to war. So the major thing that we are going to be talking about in this election is, a lot of us, is... Was that a good decision and was it well executed? I think that's the duty of people in democracies, to hold their leaders accountable. It's not unpatriotic, it's the patriotic thing to do. What we found in Vietnam is the Generals didn't speak out, the retired ones didn't. We are this time.

25. Wes Clark has always defended the essence of our American Democracy
Directly too, not just namby pamby stuff about our sacred right to vote. He talks about what needs to happen in the intervening years between our visits to the ballot box. Information, freedom of speech, open government, dissent, and the need to question authority because, in a Democracy, leaders are accountable for their actions to the citizens who elect them, and not just on election day.

God it was frustrating during the primaries when so many innately distrusted Clark because of his military background, and I'm not saying that suspicion was crazy, just that I wish more people could have gotten to know Clark sooner. Well he's firmly on our team now and he won't be going away, we can thank our lucky stars for that.
