Michelle Obama in KC - pictures!!
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 08:33 PM by proud2Blib
The crowd was just immense. We were told 3000 but it seemed like millions. I have been at football games that were less crowded.

Congressman Emanuel Cleaver

Michelle

This one just shows how far back I was and I include it only to get compliments for taking such good pictures holding my camera over my head. LOL

These kids were doing a variation of Billionaires for Bush. They were hilarious. And they had never heard of Billionaires for Bush! All the more reason to admire their street theater.

2. Great photographs - thanks!
She's not been in the headlines lately.

I think the RW press thinks reporting on Palin means they can ignore other women!

5. Pretty remarkable a candidate's wife can draw a crowd this size.

6. That crowd turned out for Michelle? I love her, but who knew
she was almost as popular as her husband? I don't think I've ever seen her at an outdoor rally solo. This is awesome!

12. We got there two and a half hours early
Stood in line for at least an hour to get in. Then got in and even though we had been so early, we weren't all that close to the stage. There were that many people there. And it was not in an area where rallies are normally held. It's an old shopping area that served the African American community for many years then declined and was revitalized about 10 years ago. Still struggling to get the tourists and other visitors. And almost impossible to find a place to park. So I was amazed by how many people showed up. It was really incredible.

11. Not so interesting, but expected...being able to view these pictures is another
reason to be thankful for the internet, we are so unable to count on the media to show us everything we honestly want to view..

Love the college kids at the bottom
Just be sure to take a few minutes from the X-Box and rutting to vote, kids.

14. They were adorable
People were walking by them and cursing at them and they were yelling "IT'S A JOKE!" I laughed and told them that the Billionaires for Bush get heckled too; it always amazes me how many people think they really are supporting Bush and his war. LOL

15. My nephew was there. He called about an hour ago and was telling me about it
He went with some other kids from Haskell Indian Nations University. He said it was the most fun he had since being in downtown Lawrence after KU won the NCAA Championship.

He also called to ask me how to get back to Lawrence. LOL. One of the kids he was with knew a "short cut" and they ended up in Baldwin City. I got him on the road back to Lawrence.

Thanks for the pictures. K&R

18. I was there!!! What a class act Michelle is...
it was an absolutely beautiful day...the crowd was wonderful. I am so impressed by Mrs. Obama's grace, sense of humor and passion for what she is doing on behalf of her husband but more importantly on behalf of all of us. I was lucky to be about 50 feet back from the stage and could see the emotion and sincerity in her face as she delivered a speech that left all of us energized, fired up and ready to go!!!
