Did McCain speak on the Senate floor yesterday?
I watched quite a bit of the speechifying that occurred before the Senate vote on the bailout (oops, excuse me, "buy-in") bill yesterday and never saw McCain speak.

I saw Obama, I saw Lindsey Graham, saw Durbin, saw a whole bunch of folks. Did I miss McCain?

I would have thought that a speech on the floor would have been a perfect time for him to shore up his leadership role, since the maverick man did such a good job coming to
the rescue when the House voted on the bill. :puke:

Did I miss it?

Thanks.

3. That is what I thought,
I am very surprised that more folks have not called him out for even more hypocrisy on this, especially after all his "you can't phone it in" huffing and puffing.

And I would have thought that Lindsey Graham would have taken the opportunity to praise McCain in some way during his speech, seeing as how he is so obviously angling for a position in McCain's cabinet.

4. He displayed the kind of leadership we've come to expect.
Vote and hide.

Slink out the back door and phone it in.

That's a reformer we can beleive in my friends.

7. McC gutless.
This bill is very unpopular. Obama believed it had to be done and had the courage to stand up and say so. McC hid under his desk and when it was time to vote whispered "aye" and hoped nobody noticed. Ugh.

9. but then McCain had the "courage" -
to go on the Tee Vee and rail against "pork-laden" bills, like the one he just voted for.

He just makes no sense on anything anymore, maybe that is the strategy that he is employing, by taking all sides on any issue, he feels that he can not be called out for his positions?

Here is what he said on Foxxy News after the vote -

SCARBOROUGH: Why did these items have to be in this critical bill?

MCCAIN: Well that’s just the way the system is working in Washington and the reason why it’s got to be fixed, and it’s got to be changed. And no matter what the stakes are, you’ve got to stop this by starting to veto bills that come across the president’s desk. … It’s insanity and it’s obscenity, because it’s a waste of taxpayers’ dollars and it goes on, and until we stop it, until we get frankly a president who will say, I’m gonna veto these bills, I’m gonna make the people famous that put them on there, uh, famous.
