of Hitler on his pedestal at the sports stadium there? I stood on that spot back in 1969 it was a creepy feeling. Sometimes I wonder if we are going that route again.

Reifenstahl knew how to manipulate the camera! Have you ever noticed in Triumph of the Will how Hitler is always shown by himself, isolated from the adoring masses who look up to him?

BTW, the Nuremberg rally site was still accessible to the public as of the late 90s, and anyone who wanted to could climb up to the podium, although the steps are starting to fall apart. The rest of the stadium seemed to be occupied by soccer fields and a truck-driving school at the time. Creepy place, still. There's a "Wild Western" camp just down the street from it, but it was closed when we were there.
