9-11 Did NOT make ZELL MILLER turn on Democrats
Zell Miller went to the Senate in 2000

He started voting on the Republican side as soon as he got there.
2000 vote according to ADA - 0% ( he was there for only two votes)

In 2001:

Americans for Democratic Action rates 20 votes.

Of those votes Miller voted with the Democrats ( or the liberal view) on 7 of them ( one being McCain -Feingold.)

Including this one - a squeaker that has NOTHING to do with national security

11. S I. School Renovation and Construction. Harkin (D-IA) amendment to authorize $1.6 billion for fiscal 2002 and such sums as necessary for each fiscal year between 2003 and 2006 for the construction and renovation of public elementary and secondary school buildings. Rejected 49-50. May 16, 2001. A yes vote is a +.

Zell voted No

and this

13. HR 1836. Head Start. Kennedy (D-MA) amendment to condition the reductions in the marginal income-tax rate on full funding for Head Start programs. Motion rejected 45-54. May 22, 2001. A yes vote is a +.

Zell voted no

-----
For a list of his votes in 2001 ( when he supposedly "turned)

1. So I start this thread just as Bush
starts his speech.....

My point is, that when someone says, "9-11 changed Zell" It is not true. Before Sept 11th he was voting against us...even against Head Start.

Zell was no Democrat and 9-11 had nothing to do with it. Like so many things Bushie...it's just an excuse.

2. We Democrats are our own worse enemy at times
this sort of thing should be used to hammer the repugnants at every turn, especially when they start spouting about Bush and the GOP "strengthening" education and yet other than a passing article on page 14 of a paper like the Washington Post, the country is for the most part unaware of the numerous times the GOP and Bush has voted against things that the country claims it likes their "leadership" on..especially all the times the Democrats have tried to increase funding for Homeland Security programs just to be voted down by the repugnants.
The GOP/Bush lives on lies and the bait and switch and we're not pointing it out nearly enough..

3. yes, i remember complaints about him even before 9/11
when i would discuss politics with friends. and it wasn't the type of complaint that some on here have against daschle or some others who don't vote as liberal as ted kennedy. but it was the type where he really isn't on our side and it wasn't just based on a voting record.
