I almost hate to say this

but those last 20 minutes of the speech were good.

Really good - as in moving undecideds good.

The clown talked in sound bites, and was perceived as both self-depreciating and tough. Flag wrapping works wonders - just ask Ronnie.

Hard as it is, look at that speech through the eyes of someone who pays little attention to politics, an you must agree that the fool gave one hell of a performance those last 20 minutes.

I know you're one hell of a closer, John - here's your chance. Get him.

1. I agree. we are down 10 midway thru the 3rd quarter.
i didn't think he had it in him. i thought he'd just give 'em more red meat - but he didn't. he played above it all and i think it worked for him.

4. The speech MIGHT move someone who has been totally
out of it for the last 4 years. But I kind of doubt that those people were watching tonight.

7. I don't get it.
The last 20 minutes INFURIATED me.

He stood on the graves and sacrifices of Americans from the colonial era on forward to prop up his FAILURES in the name of "liberty" and Elmer Gantry phony patriotism.

He exploited the blood of REAL patriots for his own gain.

I am trying not to spit bullets right now.

8. Sorry.....I disagree
He could have said that John Kerry was wonderful and cried in anguish and seemed sincere and I would have still thought that anything he says is a lie and insincere. If an undecided really thinks that George Bush deserves their vote for celebrating 9/11 and taking this country to war, then they are as stupid as he is.

George Bush held a celebration for a preemptive war, for lying to the American people and for the deaths of 3000 New Yorkers.

9. I didn't listen, but I think the speech is irrelevant.
Unless one is completely brainwashed, part of the 2% getting ultra rich under this fascist regime, or dumb as a doornail, nothing will change. * has screwed each and every one of the majority of Americans in one way or another. IF the bbvs don't get US, WE WIN.

It's all hurricane, all the time down there right now. Hubby was passed out 10 mins into it snoring away. Local news here led off with 10 mins of hurricane news.

Four more seconds! Four more seconds! Four more seconds!

I was bored through the whole speech. The only lively moments came when the hecklers created actual drama. It was reminiscent of an off-year state-of-the-union speech. We've seen all of Bush's tricks: the phony compassion, the multiple references to "good hearts" and "freedom," the Hallmark-card inspired "soaring" language. BOOOOring.

16. I couldn't hear. They were drowned out by the Repubs.
But they did manage to rattle Bush and interrupt the flow.

13. Most people had tuned out by the last 20 minutes.
Undecides...who the hell are they? If they haven't made up their minds by now they haven't got one. It was pure non-Republican and if Kerry had said the very same things the press and the pundits and the Republicans would be having him for lunch right now.
