CNN's Bill Schneider repeats the old myth about Gore not being likable
Schneider, dishing for Bush, said that he's just so darn likable, and that as chronically unlikable Gore showed, you need to be likable to get elected president.

A few problems: first, Al Gore wasn't disliked -- throughout the 2000 campaign, his favorability ratings were quite good. They only dipped below 50% at the height of the recount battle, and then they shot back up after his well-received concession speech.

And to point out the obvious: if Gore was so darn unlikable, and if Bush was so well liked, and if likability is such a critical factor, then just how the HELL did Al Gore manage to get more votes than George Bush did?

1. Wondering when they were going to bring this up
bet on it before the speech because it's the only goddamn thing (false as it is) that they can say about this guy who has fucked this country for over 3 years. And your going to hear the likable shit as they rate him an A+++++++ after each debate. These pre-paid shit bags.

3. If likability had been even, Gore would have coasted
His lesser numbers in that area helped squash the built-in economic advantages, the ones which led every economic-based election forecaster to predict a huge Democratic victory. Gore blew the likability aspect with the theatrics in debate number one. I had about 15 debate watchers in my living room and the women, in particular, were apalled at his sighs.

7. Bush is NOT likeable AND I wouldn't have a beer with Mr. Alkie
He'd probably trash me like he did his so-called pals at the wedding he attended.
