6. It wasn't a bad speech...
It was typical Kerry... got a little wind-baggish at times, but I've come to expect that from him. Not a bad speech, though. Bush's was definitely worse.

It WAS a strong response, though. It had plenty for the media to lap up, some red meat for the partisans, and was just generally a smart thing to do to steal some headlines and print space from Bush tomorrow.

11. fighting back and in a good spirit about it
is way better than being on the defensive.
Look at the diff between Kerry/Edwards smiling and confident and Zell M.(foaming at the mouth) and Cheney (scowling) bastards.

12. It was time to take the gloves off
I thought Kerry rambled, and should have been even more of a street fighter tonight. That said, he had some great lines and showed more passion than I have seen from him in the past. If Kerry can succeed in making Bush/Cheney look like wimps for not serving, Kerry's white male vote will jump up...and we could win this thing by 5 points.

This was the first time that I feel like our side was SMARTER in campaign strategy. The Repubs attack on Kerry last night, gave Kerry the right/authority to RESPOND! If the Repubs wouldn't have tried to demean Kerry, then we never could have stolen thunder tonight. We've got to continue to improve on how we frame the issues, but tonight was a big step up from the non action on the Swift Boat Veterans for Lies.

16. The Republicans walked right into this
with both eyes wide shut. The Democratic convention was upbeat, positive and forward looking and Kerry stood proudly on his military record. They knew the Republican convention would be a hate fest against Kerry.

Then right after Bush's "great" speech, Kerry comes on and called them on all that hate with no substance for the nation.

Kerry's hands were clean..he had a nice clean convention, and had every right to slam the Republicans for their hate fest against them. It leaves them with no come-back. They're hanging out to dry right now. Magnificent strategy.

He'll keep hammering them now because they have so much to be hammered about, before they start to figure out how to recover from this one, Kerry will have another slam-dunk against them.

17. Yep...
Kerry went positive when he needed to while the GOP slung mud; now that the conventions are over, Kerry is going to fight like he's never fought before..

Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 01:08 AM by A_Possum
And point at Kerry and say (in very high-pitched voices), "We're being positive and look, mom, he's attacking us!"

They have a couple of "positive" issues ads coming out. Watch if they don't say this.

It's gonna be funny to see Cheney get all red in the face and upset because Kerry came back at him. Oh! Oh! Oh! You're so mean! Only we get to be mean!

This is the guy who shoots a couple hundred caged pheasants for target practice. Girlie-man.
