FOX/Rasmussen: Obama Leads McCain by Seven in Florida
Election 2008: Florida Presidential Election
Obama Leads McCain by Seven in Florida
Monday, October 06, 2008

Barack Obama has pulled ahead to his biggest lead yet over John McCain in Florida. The latest Fox News/Rasmussen Reports survey of the state finds the Democrat ahead 52% to 45%.

With the release of the latest poll, Florida moves from “Toss-Up” to “Leans Democrat” in the Rasmussen Reports Balance of Power Calculator. NOTE: Factors other than the latest Rasmussen Reports poll impact the Balance of Power ratings. The current status is indicated on the table in the upper righthand corner of this article.

Last week, the race was tied at 47%. Just one week prior, McCain had a five percentage point lead.

McCain is viewed favorably by 56% of voters and unfavorably by 43%. Obama’s ratings are 54% favorable, 43% unfavorable.

1. Excellent
I remain cautiously optimistic. But, how can Obama be ahead with lower favorables?

4. The economy maybe?

Some voters may have a favorable image of both, but trust Obama more to handle the economy.

2. Amazing turn of events. It does look like Obama can win Florida.
The VP choice of the anti-semitic Palin has certainly helped Obama there.

3. It seems that Floridians view equally favorably, so what accounts
for the seven point spread? Could it be Palin dragging down the ticket?

5. Yes, and it could be the grump also bringing down the ticket.
Maybe old people just don't want to see one of their own running the government. Knowing how fucked up they feel most of the time. I don't mean that as a joke either. Both of my parents lived well into their 70's and said almost every day how tough it was getting old. And how they didn't trust themselves any more on so many important levels.

7. You could be right. I guess you don't really have to have an unfavorable
view of someone, not to want to vote for them. I keep wondering if Obama's peaking too soon, or if this is the right place, right time.

9. Yes, you somehow have to evaluate whether they're up to the task.
For good or bad. Regardless of past party allegiance.
