Florida GOP chair not allowed on Palin's plane after saying she needed more preparation.
He had to charter his own plane to get to her events, but he surely is singing her praises now. Guess he figured out he'd better get on board.

Here's what he said to the New York Times after Palin's interview with Katie Couric.

Concerns About Palin’s Readiness as Big Test Nears

Her halting interview with Katie Couric on CBS News alarmed many Republicans and gave fodder for a devastating parody on Saturday Night Live.

“I think the Katie Couric interview shows that she needs to be briefed more on certain aspects,” said Jim Greer, the Republican chairman in Florida. “She continues to be viewed very positively by the base of the party, but she needs to demonstrate that she’s got the knowledge and ability to be president should the need arise.”

Oops, Jim Greer. Not wise to criticize the hockey mom who represents joe six pack.

From the Miami Herald

No room on the Palin plane

Determined not to be left out of the party, RPOF Chairman Jim Greer flew a chartered plane to Sarah Palin's events in Clearwater and Southwest Florida today.

The McCain campaign had told him there wasn't room in the small plane last week after Greer made what the campaign is regarding as disloyal comments to the New York Times last week, questioning Palin's readiness to be VP. There was room on the plane, however, for Sen. Mel Martinez and Gov. Charlie Crist.

..."Flash forward to a hockey arena in Estero, Florida, near Naples, where Greer just finished speaking to the crowd gathered to see Palin and he's now singing the praises of the Alaska governor. He called her "dynamic'' and said she understands what working Americans are going through "She makes more decisions in one day than Sens Obama and Biden make in a whole year."

And the Republican Party spokesperson for Florida made a statement on this, complete with all the talking points about "unrepentant terrorists".

RPOF spokesman Erin VanSickle doesn't want us making too much of this. "Lots of folks understandably want to travel with Governor Palin, and Chairman Greer is participating in her Florida events as part of the pre-program,'' VanSickle responded to an email. "What is important is that the Chairman will be on hand to welcome Governor Palin along with thousands of Floridians, who will learn about her record of leadership and Barack Obama's questionable associations with people like Bill Ayers, an unrepentant terrorist.''

Florida just keeps looking more and more foolish. Sometimes I want to yell out that we are not all stupid here.

3. How much did it set back the Florida Republican Party to charter the plane?
Just a little bit less they can use when it gets closer to election day.

10. What's the Florida demographic? A bunch of old retired, rich people? Of course, they would vote
Republican because, as we all know, Republicans are self-centered, narcissistic, holier-than-thou, hypocritical, selfish assholes who care only about themselves. They got "theirs" and they want to keep it ALL, fearing that Obama/Democrats will raise taxes. Never mind that our economy is in the toilet, thanks to 8 years of Shrub. I've said it before and I'll say it again: there is no reasoning with Republicans. None. Any attempt is a waste of breath and time, imo.

29. There's hope
Have you heard of The Great Schlep?
The Great Schlep aims to have Jewish grandchildren visit their grandparents in Florida, educate them about Obama, and therefore swing the crucial Florida vote in his favor. Don’t have grandparents in Florida? Not Jewish? No problem! You can still become a schlepper and make change happen in 2008, simply by talking to your relatives about Obama.

Elsewhere the site tells you how to make a Mini-Schlep, if you're too poor/lazy/disinclined to go to Florida.

I give up on the html. Good luck.

11. Hubby keeps going around saying "you betcha" to everyone.
So far no one has said much, mostly chuckles. I'm afraid he will get blasted, though. He's having a great time with it.

He slips a few joe six packs in there as well. In our area you need to be careful. We still have neighbors who believe Bush was chosen by God.

31. One of the more pathetic occurences of the repuke campaign.
If anything, it brought more attention to their "strict party-line, talking-points only" approach.
If Greer was not a man of more fortitude he would have turned around and told everyone what he REALLY thinks...
