First Poll of the Day. Tied in Indiana
Associated Press - October 6, 2008 11:14 PM ET

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A new statewide poll shows Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain running even in Indiana.

The WISH-TV Indiana poll shows McCain and Obama each supported by 46% of likely voters. Five percent are undecided and 3% say they favor another candidate. The margin of error is plus-or-minus 3.5%age points.

The poll released tonight was from a telephone survey of 800 likely voters conducted September 29th-October 3rd by Maryland-based Research 2000.

McCain hasn't visited the state since July 1st. Obama plans to visit Indianapolis on Wednesday, his sixth trip to Indiana since the May primary

1. Indiana would still be a tough win
for Obama to get, but it's all looking great right now. It's very important that McCain has to fight for his life in these traditionally Red strongholds, because it keeps him from focusing as many resources on the traditional battleground states. Indiana would be a damn good pickup for Obama though! I suspect he can take a lead after this debate there.
