Two Election Day Tips For New And Experienced Voters-
Please remind everyone you talk with about election day from here on out of TWO THINGS-

1) Request a PAPER BALLOT. if available- "in case a recount is required" and -

2) DO NOT WEAR OBAMA/BIDEN SHIRTS, HATS or BUTTONS to the polling place. Most districts have laws about campaigning within 200 feet of the polling place. I know you're excited- but GOP operatives will be on the look out for ANYTHING THEY CAN DO TO DIS-ENFRANCHISE YOU. Better safe than sorry.

Anything to add to this, DUers???

2. Vote early.
If your polls open before you have to be in work, forgo that 2nd cup of coffee and go vote. Or go vote after you drop the kids at school.

3. Take picture ID with your correct address on it
Not all states require this, but many have some ID requirement. If your ID doesn't have the correct address, take a utility bill, check statement, something that does have your name and correct address on it; that is acceptable in some states (I know it is in Ohio, for example.) If you're not sure, check with your local election board ahead of time.

4. I heard on the radio this AM, NH is expecting 70% voter turnout.
and 18 year olds are registering at unprecedented amounts...

If this is happening in your state too, GO EARLY!!!! I plan on being there when polls open. :bounce:

5. Do something nice for the election workers
They work long hours for low pay. Usually the party machines will provide meals for their workers (let it be said that the Democratic committee in MY town buys meals for both parties because we're the good guys), but a box of donuts or carafe of coffee would be very welcome.

And be polite, no matter what happens.

6. Don't vote using straight ticket option
Instead, vote for each democrat individually.

11. In NC the straight party vote doesn't vote for president.
Maybe that's why?!?

10. I am going to wear my Obama hat
I always do something like that to give the Republican poll workers fits. Then I will take the hat off and just hold it in my hand when they tell me I can't wear the hat. What are they going to do? They can't stop me from voting and they can't make me put my hat under my shirt. Hey, gotta have some fun!

12. "They can't stop me from voting and they can't make me..."
heheh wanna bet? they will do anything and everything to stop your vote being counted.

make no mistake- they will fuck you but good.

what's the old aphorism? living well is the best revenge...

if they give you a provisional ballot your vote will not be counted.

good luck.
