8. Folks in the lower 48 don't know AK

Hell, I don't "know" AK, but I did live there for a few months. Anyway, if you want to understand AK in one word, the word would be weird. AK is like USA, but weirder. Those folks in the clip were not selected for strangeness: they probably really are average folks in Wasilla. Ever watch Northern Exposure? Sure, it was fiction, but it actually rings true. Alaska is an outlier in many ways, but the strangest thing about Alaska certainly is the folks who live there. Many folks who live there are not from AK, they have self-selected b/c they moved there. From where I sit (and I actually do like the weather up there, which makes me a little strange) folks who move to Alaska are weird. It is the magnet for strangeness that CA is purported to be.

Any of you DUers from AK agree? Or am I wrong on this?

21. People that move to Alaska are running from something.

Many people move to Alaska to escape from their own past. They move to get away from civilization. They move to get away from government, law enforcement, society, etc.

My ex-GF of 6 years is from Alaska. She left the State and was somewhat normal. All of her friends that didn't leave are complete nutjobs.
