CNN, Faux and MSNBC have COMPLETELY crossed a line from journalism to JUNK
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 12:38 AM by jackstraw45
2004 will be the year that cable "news" channels offically were declared DEAD.

I have NO respect for any of them anymore.

Just consider how many republicans were STACKED to respond to Kerry & the dems, sometimes speak OVER Kerry and the dems at their convention.

Contrast that with tonight.

Cable news is DEAD. Conservative Infotainment networks of propaganda and ratings competition are all that's left.

5. The fight is for the FCC to BUST up the Corporate Media Monopolies
It will come in, say, 5-20 years.

It WILL happen after MUCH damage has been done.

20. Nope.
A country is defined by its people. I'm already disgusted enough with the American people, and if they don't give a shit enough, if they're so unbelievably ignorant and horrible people as to re-select that fucking chimp, I don't want to be around them.

There are plenty of good democracies around. I'm not going to sit here and wait for the shit that's going to crash down on this place, either. This kind of bullshit doesn't usually last long, especially not in a world like this.

And, to be honest, I'm not gonna be too sorry when the shit DOES go down. I mean, I'll definitely be sorry because I know that a good 40% of the people, at least, are really good, caring people. But the other folks....well...

4. Hell
Not to mention the networks sucking it up, too, by giving *'s speech about double the time Kerry's got, since * chose to just talk on as long as he damn well pleased. I read on here that Kerry had been told he would be cut off if he went over. So much for equal time...

10. Don't try and tell me that CNN 4 years ago was CLOSE to as bad as today
Same with MSNBC.

I realize it's been a long downhill slope. But this is AS LOW AS IT GETS, IMO.

as it is now...I will give you that....but they never once came out and said Bush was lieing about Gore and his record in 2000....they went along with Bush's lies like little pussycats....disgusting.....plus, they ran with every rumor that was negative about Clinton without basing their stories on facts during the 1990s....

the washington media jumped the shark 4 years ago, most tellingly, when they refused to acknowledge that gore mopped the floor with bush during the first debate.

11. Not dead until we kill them
Cable news will persist as long as people keep watching it. How do these places get money? Advertisers pay for ad space based on how many people watch the show, so when people here watch FOX, they help support FOX in the ratings.

You mission is clear - STOP SUPPORTING YOUR ENEMY!

15. Did you really think that half assed unregulated cable TV channels
owned by a few billionaire guys as a hobby were going to provide the straight dope? To them this is basically all a joke. They enjoy screwing with the system and messing up people's minds. All of us are just bit part paupers who eagerly watch this stuff and fume and fret about it, and will they hope, buy the products that they advertise.

19. You've been sucked in by the myth of the So Called Liberal Media
CNN is NOT heavily left-leaning except perhaps in a bizarro universe-MSNBC seems to toy with going left but must remain true to its GE Master.

And FOX SUCKS

18. What we need is a la carte cable choice
I watched a hearing on C-Span about giving viewers choice in their cable lineup.

Course, cable hates the idea, but citizens group that testifyed, said they could easily do it.

I think 5 companies own almost all cable programming. No wonder we do not get truth & diversity of opinion.

22. There's a reason AMC was playing Terminator & Conan the Destroyer
the SAME night Arnold addressed the convention.

Let's see...American Movie Classics is owned by Rainbow Media which is owned by Cablevision and...WAIT FOR IT....NBC....which is owned by General Electric.

It's like the Kevin Bacon game.

25. I agree
And understand the frustration…the ONLY ONLY logical response that suggest this isn’t political is the fact the media is trying to keep the show interesting. Reporting this thing objectively will basically end it for Bush. If they call him on his lies, his flips, his hypocrisy…if they expose the distortions against Senator Kerry to be bullshit and further expose Kerry as a man of principle who is MORE than fit to lead this nation…this election is done, over, fine’…

Bush has been an abject failure, a more than incompetent “leader.” He has lied to the American people…a Lie that has essentially cost us 1,000 men and women and COUNTLESS innocent people in Iraq.

Bush has promoted government policy that handcuffs and restricts the rights of American people while jettisoning restrictions and creating more freedom for the most wealthiest corporations.

He and his administration are nothing but pure corporate whores. This is a WINNING issue for our side…but we aren’t getting hours upon hours of investigative journalism on the cronyism that is endemic to this crowd.

If the media would spend HALF they time on Bush’s transgressions that they spent on Bill Clinton’s penis this election would be over.

As it is, they need to sell tv time, draw in viewers…the way to do that is keep Chimp in the game as long as they can.

27. I agree with you , and noticed the same thing myself
IT's been bad, but last nite was transparent for me. When Kerry finished his speech during our convention, they all immediately pounced on tearing it down.

Usually after a speech they talk about what the speaker said, what his message was, how well they did, then the have some opposition on. Kerry didn't get that. Last night, Bush got that. They talked about his speech, how powerful it was and he did so great, blah blah blah, THEN they had some opposition on , after they had set out what the "facts" were.

NOT EVEN CLOSE.

They have CROSSED THE LINE completely now.

This is intolerable.
