16. I think it makes sense for me, but I didn't expect..

all the candidates to be more conservative. I mean, questions like "I'd always support my country, whether it was right or wrong" are such an easy "strongly disagree" for me. I got my score while just putting "disagree" for the death penalty being appropriate sometimes and schools' primary objective being getting our children in jobs.

29. Well into libertarian left territory with Mandela and the Dalai Lama.
And also Nader and McKinney, neither of whom I will be voting for. The U.S. political map is shifted well to the right, but ability to lead and to govern still matter, so I will vote for the Democratic ticket to the right of my personal views.

Ralph Nader is who I'm closest too and I wouldn't argue that, but, as you say, ability to lead and the ability to govern a population with diverse political and economic views matters. Obama fits the bill.
