MSM - Pushing False Neutrality - Saying Both Campaigns Are Going Negative
Edited on Tue Oct-07-08 05:06 PM by Median Democrat
The mainstream media is so afread and intimidated by the McCain/Palin goon squad that they keep describing the negative tone of this race from a falsely neutral point of view. The problem is that it equates the Ayers smears, which are based on a person Obama was never close with, with Charles Keating, who was extremely tight with John McCain, and whom John McCain DID help by delaying regulation of Lincoln Savings & Loan.

There is no comparison, and the MSM is too chicken to point this out. The MSM is so cowed by McCain/Palin's goon squad, and their chants "liberal media elite," that the MSM does not call out the McCain campaign for its lies. Worse, by engaging in false neutrality, the MSM suggests that the Ayers allegations are as legitimate as the Keating 5 episode in which McCain played a direct role in causing thousands of Americans to lose their savings.

Heck, a closer comparison would be John McCain and Clayton Williams, who infamously suggested that women who are being raped should just sit back and enjoy it. Clayton Williams raised $300,000 for McCain this summer, and although McCain canceled his appearance with Williams due to pressure, McCains still kept the money. Under GOP logic, McCain also believes that women who are being raped should just go ahead and enjoy it.

Oh how far we have come in such a short period of time.

To say, as Gov. Sarah Palin is now doing, that Barack Obama pals around with terrorists is just outrageous.

But Obama's hands aren't clean either. Here is what he said in May of this year about McCain's involvement in the Keating Five, a savings and loan scandal that happened in the late 80s.

2. They are about ratings
A close race gets a lot more eyeballs than a landslide. And it makes the journalists seem more relevant. The MSM will do everything it can to make this race seem a lot closer than it is and if Obama starts to runaway, I'd look for them to start turning on him to get things evened out.

4. This Is Why There Is More Coverage Of McCain's Attacks, Rather Than Keating
The Keating 5 is getting very little attention on the news programs. Instead, cable news looks like a daily fireside chat with McCain/Palin.

7. I agree with you
not an expert on this, but what they are going to be able to charge for ads next month is based partly on this month's numbers.

I don't think it is fear driving them, but greed.

3. They are ALWAYS pushing this "both" talking point.
It was the same when Obama talked about the economy and McCain copied his plans. MSM said : "McCain, Obama propose...." :eyes:
