What is the GOP excuse for having such a late convention?
Nine states had to change their election laws to allow W. on the ballot.

It is the first time the GOP has had a convention in NYC in the past 150 years.

What excuses are they giving?

Why isn't the media making this an issue?

4. I've heard them acknowledge that the GOP
did it to take advantage of what they consider to be one of Bush's greatest strengths..his (cough) "leadership" after 9/11.

Anyone who pays attention would know that his greatest "strength" was a result of his ignoring the warnings he was given and that almost 3000 people died because of it but the irony seems to be lost on half of this country.

We're a country made up of morons I'm sad to say.

3. I heard Olympics... prime time TV and all that.

Course, the could have picked the week right after the Dems
(but still before the Olympics).

The real reason: fund raising restrictions plus the anniversary
of 9/11 (hence NYC). Course, they didn't reference 9/11 at
ALL - did they? /sarcasm - heavy/

5. My old GOP friends say
That it was because the Olympics took up most of August. Since the party in power goes second, that meant they either had to schedule it in early August (losing the advantage of the few weeks in between). Of course it has NOTHING to do with politicizing 9/11 or spending limits.... pure coincidence!

7. They always return to the scene of the crime.
The necro-cons wanted to have a circle jerk over ground zero.
