Listening to Imus--The Pundits talking points are straight from RNC
Listened to Jeff Greenfield on Imus:
1) Greenfield quotes Carville and Greenberg as saying Dem convention was a "missed opportunity" becuz it spent so much time talking about the past--Kerry's military past--and not enough speaking about future.

2) Bush's bounce will be "bigger than expected" (but wasn't their convention all about hate and attack?)

3) That Democrats are becoming worried will be a major story as they wonder if Kerry can beat Bush. (so expect for the next few days as some polls show Bush pulling ahead talking about "worried democrats.")

4) That Kerry's brilliant counter attack last night in Springfield might come off as again "being about the past" becuz while King George was talking about the future, Kerry is still talking about the past--("Five deferments vs. Two tours of duty").

This is what we are up against folks.

1. I think the "Dems worried" story is already out there

2. Let them talk about the future...
But we shouldn't let the public forget that the only way to judge what a future under Bush will be like is to look what the PAST 4 years have been like. Too look at what he promised he would do back in 2000 and what he actually did.

We have the right message; NOW is the time for the Dems to work their asses off to get that message out there.

3. Greenfield has been pro-Repub for some time, now. Sounds
like he fell for the Repub hate story, hook, line, & sinker. I doubt seriously that Bush will get a bigger bounce than 10% (Kerry got that much of a bounce according to one or two polls, let's not forget).

As far as Dems being worried, I heard this talk all over TV during the RNC, about the mistakes that Kerry has made, blah blah blah. Are they looking at the same polls I'm looking at? Kerry has been tied with or ahead of Bush in the polls FOR MOST OF THE YEAR. Each one has eeked out ahead of the other at various times. THIS IS MOST UNUSUAL FOR AN INCUMBENT TO BE DOING SO POORLY.

KERRY IS DOING GREAT, GUYS! Whaddya mean we're worried? If Bush gets a larger than 10% bounce, THEN I'll worry. :headbang:

4. Kerry's past is relevant of course
The issue that Kerry has not really refuted strongly enough is the notion that his Senate record is ultra liberal. I would like to see an ad that refutes that very strongly.

I really thought Kerry's convention was excellent. I wouldn't have changed a thing.

5. Don't you love how Kerry only gets small bounce & it's all over.
Chimphy gets Small bounce, and it's all over for Kerry. Where is the logic? Isn't a president with such low approval ratings in trouble, where's that story?

7. I know!
If Bush is Best President Ever and Kerry is this two-faced slime who isn't fit to lick Bush's cowboy boots, then how come after a month full of relentless attacks on Kerry, he's still in a statistical tie with Bush? Hmmm?
