Do they really think we're dumb enough to think that this speech was not vetted by the RNC, Karl and all of Bush's handlers? He was the Keynote speaker for God's sake.

In my opinion his speech WAS the key to the whole convention (which, paled in comparison to the Democratic Convention). Hate and self-aggrandizement were the order of the day.

They traded on the fact that a "Democrat" would be the keynote speaker and now they have to live with it.

1. "The Man Without a Party" coming to a theater near you soon.
Alan Keyes could use a man like him.

4. I just love self-made pariahs. Zell, you are a classic. See how many
party invites you get when you return to D.C. (Note: Zell's name was expurgated from the "Blue Book" three minutes after his speech on Thursday.)

5. Maybe Zell and Alan can start their own party.

You don't publically trash the daughter of the very powerful Vice President of your own party and not suffer the politcal consequences.

2. They have a history of using people and dumping them
as soon as they're no longer useful. Ask Payola Jones and Linda Tripp about that.

Let's face it, they vetted Zellout's speech and thought it looked OK as dry words on a page. It was his delivery that sent it right over the Nazi edge. Too many households were full of puzzled people, all scratching their heads and playing a quick round of "Spot the Loony."

He's proven to be an embarrassment. He's history.

3. I do too....
As I said, if they can't protect America and their convention from their own keynote speaker, how can they protect America, hahahahaha....

And of course, if he "doesn't speak for all Republicans," why were all the Republicans in sight screaming with hatefilled glee along with him?! ?

The only criticism you would have heard on the floor when he finished was that he hadn't been crazy enough....and that was the early shouting from GOP bloggers and freepers all over the internet, most of whom seemed disappointed only that he hadn't whipped out his pistol on the spot and shot Chris Matthews..

6. From the clips I heard...
the purple Band-Aid people were sure cheering him on. And they say Democrats go whichever way the wind blows. Ha! They're stuck with him now. Then again, I can just see us Dems feeling sorry for him and taking him back in the fold. Please no!

9. Kerry EMBRACED his keynote speaker last night
He mentioned Obama, and has been talking him up quite a bit.

Interesting contrast, huh?

He's retired after this. He just wanted the gorilla off his back.

13. Here's The National Review "disavowing Zell" by cheering wildly
after he finished....

"The question bouncing around the Corner yesterday: Although we conservatives loved Zell Miller, did Miller’s speech change any votes?
Well, folks, this just in from ... a hip young denizen of Manhattan and master of media—not, in other words, the most promising material for the GOP. But just listen:
“What a speech by Miller last night. He might have secured my vote for Bush with that speech. Being the loose free spirit that I am, I don't necessarily agree with Bush's social and moral values -- FCC media censorship, religious fundamentalism etc. But I think I really have to put those issues on the back-burner and look at the real issue at hand--national security.”
National security, the real issue. Zell done did it.
"

"I think the Miller speech was fantastic, as I said. But I do think that if it had been delivered by a Republican it would be seen as a major liability for Bush -- largely because the press would but that spin. I think the Bush campaign believes that the counter-spin that Miller's a Democrat will defuse that sort of thing; "the Republicans weren't mean. Zell Miller's a Democrat." "

'"Zell Miller walks on water," Andrew Stuttaford says in response to that speech. He was on fire. Real homeruns for the RNC this week."

"I thought it was an fantastic speech. There are probably one or two statements of fact in it that I think the Dems can rightly quibble about. Kerry has said several times that he would not give the UN a veto etc etc.
But man-o-man-o-shevitz. Kerry must have smashed a bottle of chablis against the wall after hearing that.
"

"ZELL
He's got his head and his heart wired together for some full tilt boogie for freedom and justice.
" (say what?)

They did a great job explaining how Zell wasn't speaking for them, didn't they? Can't you feel the implicit disapproval?
