So to those people I want to send a hearty :yourock: and :toast:

Some of them are (but not limited to):

pirhana

I will always call those days "The Great Schism." ;-)

Know what all of us Obama supporters recognize even if they can't admit it? Hillary toughened him up for this. She took all the hits that now just seem to, through the grace of righteousness, bounce off of Obama.

And in the end, we all may very well get what we all wanted since the founding days of Democratic Underground ... An historic, inspirational Democratic President.

21. Hip Hip Hooray for ALL the DEMS who place UNITY above their first pick.
It was so AWESOME to have 8 candidates on our beginning line up that were all EXCELLENT for one reason or another and had some part of the Democratic Dream in their heart.

I had my severe Hillary misgivings, but if she had won the nominations I would have fought for her as hard as I'm fighting for Obama.

It is BEYOND my ability to stand 1 minute more under the TYRANNY of the APPOINTED CHIMPEROR and his LEAGUE OF DISHONEST THUGLICANS than is absolutely necessary.

If we could get an 85% for Obama tamper proof election just to show these turd blossoms that we are sick and tired of fascism, I would LOVE it. So any in party bickering to me is very sad.

24. I was an ardent Hillary supporter.

I have never been so engaged in a political election as I was with Hillary Clinton.

Part of me still struggles with liking Obama because he won the primary and she did not.

My adult daughter who also voted for Hillary in the primary convinced me to give Obama a chance.

She said she had been following up listening to him and said she was impressed and she thought I would be too.

So I listened to every one of his speeches on his web site and I was won over.

How can any Democrat not support him?

I choose to believe he is indeed the real deal.

It took a little while to convince my own sweet mom, DUer Kukesa, to support Obama. She ended up supporting him during the primaries and I was so happy.

No daughter wants to be on the other side of her mother! I am so happy to hear you say that "How can any Democrat not support him?"

Another beautiful by-product of Obama... he's bringing mothers and daughters together. :-) Wouldn't it be awful to have a McCain-supporting daughter? :wow: ;-)

The idea is great, until you try to list the names because you leave so many out.

I started to list what I considered 4 glaring omissions not listed in the the thread so far but then I realized I would be missing just as many other worthy people myself.

So for the 4 former Hillary supporters I am thinking of, who are great Dems and who I always perk up when I read their names in threads, a personal thank you from me, you add greatly to my reading pleasure on my stops in to DU. And I am sure we can agree, it is all about me, Buck Rabbit, me.

50. An important point to remember
Hillary Clinton urged her supporters to support Obama.

Remember anyone ever doing that?

Coming out full force in support of their opponent?

She is the one who truly deserves a "shout out."

I'm a little wary of that term btw, after hearing Sarah Palin use it when she addressed folks at the church she grew up in.

They're to be applauded because they're the REAL "Country First" people.

And we need them. We need their votes, their participation, their ideas, their commitment, their drive, their energy, their muscle-power, their heart, their spirit, their support, and their hard work. OUR WHOLE COUNTRY needs every ounce of that, too.

77. Thanks sweetie! I'm really impressed with everyone who's joined the Obama-rama.
I know how hard it is when you've put all your heart and soul into a candidacy and it doesn't go the distance. And you have to transfar all that effort and love and concern to someone else and fire yourself up over that person - who was not your first choice. For me, it was deciding to trade in my loyalty to Howard Dean to becoming a Kerry supporter. Which I did with increasing enthusiasm, but at first I was a little unhappy.

Those who gave their hearts to Hillary Clinton and worked so hard and donated and talked to friends and blogged and volunteered - that effort and commitment needs to be saluted and appreciated! We're LUCKY to have the benefit of that, even if Obama wasn't their heart's desire.

I'm feeling really good, and really at peace at the moment. The debate sorta sealed it for me. Things are looking up!

74. I agree! A great thing that some of the most passionate Hillary Clinton supporters did was cut
through the KoolAid and take a very close look at all of Obama's possible imperfections, gaffes and missteps. I think a lot of Obama supporters would have been completely blindsided by these attacks (like Ayers, Wright, etc) and wouldn't be able to so quickly defend him. Hillary Clinton vetted Obama, no doubt about it. We know him and all of his foibles. No human being is perfect, so it would have been naive to have ignored Obama's imperfections and stumble through the GE, only to be slapped with that reality by the Republican hate machine.

The Clinton supporters kept us on our toes and forced a lot of us to prepare for the GE.
And so many of them such as Elsewhere's Daughter and Mtnsnake are AWESOME supporters and resources of information. Very classy folks!

76. Am I in alternate universe?
I've been a Democrat all of my 60 years, and this is the MOST unified we Democrats have ever been during an election! It is a beautiful thing.

My deep thanks to Hillary, and all of her supporters, for all she, and they have done for our common cause.

83. Democrats are united
I voted Obama in my Primary, but I was never a Hillary knocker. I was happy that which ever of the two wound up winning, they'd be honed to a sharp edge by a worthy rival. The long Primary that so many hated is why Obama is ready, it is why we have a ground game that is exciting and prepared, it is why we have so many newly registered Democrats. The Primary race was good for the Party, the candidate and the country. For that, Hillary and her supporters deserve huge thanks, and special thanks to Hillary herself for continuing the Primary when so many wanted it over.
