And you know what? I don't blame them. They have a candidate who should never have gotten this far (I am still STUNNED that he made it. I thought it was Romney for sure) and to top it all off, the economy is tanking. Their chances are slim to none.
They would certainly be sending a message if they sat it out and let what is going to happen anyway happen. No matter what they do, the votes simply are not there for them. They should send a message to the Republicans in power that just running ANY candidate isn't going to work. Sit it out, and I'd bet they will get a much better candidate in 2012. That's just my take.
Anyway, back to the meltdown.

“....the fact that McCain was no one around here’s first choice....”
That is what I’ve wondered about for a long time...WHERE did McCain get the primary votes??? WHERE??? Most all conservatives I’ve talked to wonder the same thing...How is it that the least likely republican got primary votes over the most likely candidates???
Thompson, Gulianni, Romney.....Something smells to me...
Conspiracy theory...maybe...
It just doesn’t seem right...

Chance of McCain winning - slim.
Chance of McCain returning to the Senate with full pay/benefits, welcomed back into the media's confidence, and continuing his Leftist lean - pretty darn good.
Chance of Sarah Palin returning to Alaska as damaged goods, never to be seen on the national stage again - see above.

To: 7thson Short of a Clinton ambush I think Obama takes it. And you Kool-aid drinkers need to wake up to the fact that McCain was no one around here's first choice, he inspires no confidence in people and his whole campaign context is that Obama sucks (which is true) instead of how he will lead. The country is tired of Bush and too many people want to run towards something that makes them feel good. Just wait til they find out what they bought ....

To: 7thson McLame is our current Bob Droll.
His ONLY chances of winning depend on how many of us are gonna vote for Sarah Palin. That’s the bottom line.
3 posted on Wednesday, October 08, 2008 9:06:54 AM by J40000 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- quick analysis: McCain really really wants Obama to become president because he’s doing all he can to get him elected.
The Republican party is no longer the Party of Reagan.
In fact, the Republican Party left me. I didn’t leave it.
I’ll still vote for McLame not that it will do much out here on the left coast. DO you hear that those gasps of breath? That’s the United States of America on it’s death bed who will die when Barack becomes president.
But on the bright side, I’ll get a tax cut just like the one Clinton promised me but never delivered on!

To: Dead Corpse Exactly right. I too will hold my nose, close my eyes, turn my head, wince, and vote straight GOP - just like almost everyone here - because we have no other choice.
In the words of Rove, “Of course they’ll vote Republican, where else are they going to go?”

There was so much wrong about last night's debate. The format was ridiculous at best. McCain should have stood still; walking around, he looked old. Where was the McCain that thundered from New Mexico only days earlier? Why didn't he show up? This is the second time I have come away from a debate wondering who the hell is preparing McCain, if anybody? I am tired of hearing him stumble over the same few phrases, but it's not just his words. It's the method of delivery. Obama comes across as confident, whether it is deserved or not. McCain, I'm sorry, sounds sometimes like he's trying to convince himself.

To: Fred So let me see if I understand McCain’s plan.
Person A and Person B each have the same income. Person A is frugal and responsible and buys a small, inexpensive home that he knows he’ll be able to make the monthly payments for. Person B is reckless and irresponsible. He buys a large expensive home and stops paying his mortgage bills because he’s spending all his money on hookers and coke.
Person A now has to pay higher taxes to help pay Person B’s mortgage? Sounds like a really conservative plan there John.

To: Fred Like so many others am so p*ssed and frustrated with "The Maverick." He never laid a glove on The Messiah--din't even make an effort. No Ayers, No Acorn, Nothing on the Bailout, No Rev. Wright, NOTHING!!!!
All I can say after last night's debate (which BTW I fell asleep about 10:00 it was so boring) is like that old C&W song:
"TURN OUT THE LIGHTS THE PARTY'S OVER."
