The one single loony logic of Bush that has to be smashed
is the 9/11=Saddam/Iraq connection. It is in every speech, every talking point, every appearance, on the tip of the tongue of every surragate.

We have to repeat again and again and over and over ad infinitum that Bush can't do the math! He's subtracted bin Laden out of the equation!

This has to be said people! It is the one message he's staking everything on. The facts are real with jobs, the economy, the mess in Iraq, the education situation (NCLB), the healthcare situation, and other domestic issues.

This 9/11 Iraq seguay has to constantly and consistently be exposed over and over again. I believe it is absolutely the most important message we have to overcome, fast and HARD!

(sorry, a little angry at how successful they are with this)

3. Yes! Please keep this kicked.
We need to drill it into our rhetoric. We need to make it the beginning and/or ending of every point. Short and succinct.

Bush has conveniently subtracted bin Laden out of the equation of 9/11. He couldn't find him so he went gunning for the next best thing.

2. Since 911 America has been taught to racially profile people.
Osama, Saddam, they dress the same, beards, bad guys...and bush* has exploited the living shit out of this misguided thinking. I heard several delegates on the floor say that Saddam was responsible for 911 and I just shake my head. These 'should' be relatively intelligent people. But this administration has gone out of it's way to blur the line between the two.

4. Exactly why we need to smash immediately. Short and sweet.
Two sentences. (period) Keep putting it out there. Whatever one or two sentences you want but keep it out there fast and hard. Flood it everywhere.

5. I think this is an issue we talk past each other on
We say that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, which is certainly true.

They say there is a connection between invading Iraq and the war on terror, which (in their minds) is true.

But the two statements aren't parrelel. In other words, you could know that Saddam had nothing to with 9/11 and still believe that invading Iraq was a good step to take in the war on terror. I think we need to do a better job at explaining how invading Iraq has set us back in the war on terror (the recruiting opportunities for al Qaeda, the increase of ill will towards the US, the way our military is stretched to the breaking point and so on).

6. Can you put it in 2 sentences or less?
I understand what you're saying, but that's also my point. "They say there's a connection" because the administration has carefully (mis)led them toward that conclusion. Looking at the present, Iraq is NOW part of the war on terror. One could argue that Iraq is now central to the war on terror. But at the time of the invasion it wasn't. Afghanistan was. Iraq has become central to the war on terror because of Bush, not Hussein.

That's why we need to push it into the mainstream with one or two sentences.

8. Iraq was the wrong fight at the wrong time
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 01:30 PM by NewYorkerfromMass
we are spread too thin, and Bush/Rumsfeld have done it in a disasterous manner.
An opportunity to appear noble and benevolent turned into... shit.

9. Here's two sentences...
The war on terror is being fought in Afghanistan. The neo-con war for oil is being fought in Iraq.

12. Thank you!
Consistently call them out on it! Iraq only became central to the 9/11 response in the war on terror because of a misguided or misleading George Bush. Either way, his actions have been the wrong path for this country.
