At LONG last JFK responds to $87bil slander...
Kerry also defended his vote against $87 billion for the military and reconstruction effort in Iraq (news - web sites) that Republicans criticized as a vote against deployed troops.

"This president rushed to war without a plan to win the peace," Kerry said. "And I believe that because he didn't have a plan to win the peace, it was irresponsible to give him a blank check that gave $20 billion that was going to go be spent to Halliburton and all these other companies, that we needed accountability for this president."

This is what he NEEDS to keep doing. I especially like the term blank check. Keep it simple, and repeat it over and over.

Kerry did NOT vote against armor.
He voted against a BLANK CHECK (for HALLIBURTON).

Lets hope Kerry can :smoke: those :puke:s out of hiding!

2. Good. Now he needs to say it 100 times and on the Sunday morning shows
and on Larry King, etc.

And call it a LIE by the Bush camp to have suggested otherwise.

5. What he needs to do...
is ask for a clear and concise accounting of that $87 billion today...including the 8.1 billion that went to the new Iraqi government with little or no oversite and the $1.8 billion that was paid to Haliburton and now they 'can't' figure out what they spent it on...Where the hell is the money?

4. nothign new here..Kerry responded in the same way weeks ago
the media just refuses to report kerry's side every time some idiot republican talking head gets on TV and spews the lie again.

I guarantee inside of a week someone will post on DU question why Kerry doesn't dispute the $87b slur.

6. i like Franken's comeback to this
RWer "First he voted for the 87 billion, then he voted against it"

Lib reply "First the Republican's voted AGAINST the 87 billion, then they voted for it"

RWer will ask "What are you talking about?"

Lib replies with the truth of the 20 billion reconstruction and Bush threatening to veto etc etc

Priceless :bounce:

7. He voted against a blank check to Halliburton.
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 02:13 PM by MissMarple
He voted against sending our kids to war with nothing but a wish and and a promise. This administration's goal was to get into Iraq, period. They didn't care that Republicans including Cheney had been working to downsize the military since the 80's. Their kids didn't have go. After that there was no plan. Such short sighted idiocy is ruining our country.

9. Bush was more interested in Halliburton than body armor.
It's a nice response. The question is why did it take so long for us to respond this way. Next time, Kerry needs to respond immediately to all Bush bullshit and then counter attack.

14. too long and convoluted.
He just needs to say that the bill he sponsored (and voted for) would have paid for the $87 billion with a repeal of Bush's tax cuts for people making more than $400,000, instead of putting it on the credit card of American taxpayers.
